But, yes, I did go fishing yesterday morning, on Long Island’s North Shore. We went at 6 AM, and there was no one there except for the three of us. I baited my own hook, (sandworms), cast my own line (several times), the crabs ate my worms, and I did it again!
I had a great time! The bay was on our left side, the ocean was on our right side. The beach was completely deserted. It was very windy, which was probably why we didn’t catch anything. We’ve decided to go even EARLIER next time!
I can not tell you how much I love fishing. A couple of years ago I went to Canada with my dad. The plan was actually just to spend some “dad and daughter” time while he did something he loves…fish for Walley, Northern Pike, and Bass.
I wasn’t there for an hour before I realized that either the love of fishing is genetic, or it’s just the greatest thing ever!
Fishing is one of my favorite hobbies! I really hope you catch something next time, though. There’s nothing like catching a fish, of course, but eating it is even better! My husband came home yesterday from a weekend fishing trip with my dad with two huge bags of walleye, northern, and bass. Yum!
I can catch perch like nobody’s business. Other than that, though, I kinda suck at fishing. I did catch a decent sized bass a few years back but mostly it’s just perch (in my area, we do mostly pond fishing, sometimes lake fishing).
But it’s still tons of fun! Very relaxing, lets me zone out…
You can bet I cut-and-pasted *that * name. I believe we were looking for porgies, or maybe some bluefish. Only last week some guy caught a 12-pound striper, but I didn’t think we were going to catch one of those. I went with my SO, and his father, who loves fishing and I think really got a kick ut of me having so much fun.
Isn’t Ponder Stibbons too young to be having hearing troubles?
ShibbOleth, I don’t think one morning is going to be enough to find what you need. Well…unless your only requirement is that (s)he is an ex-virgin. Should be easy, then.
Anyway, it was really fun…and then, I am definitely a Doper because I was thinking about posting it here!
Well I think their full name is something else, but they’re nicknamed or maybe shortened to porgies. Oh, and it’s one porgy, two porgies. The only reason I am fairly sure is I picked it right out of the fishing section of the Long Island newspaper.
I’m glad to hear you had a good time, Elenia28. I have to agree with Spree and Dan Turk in that, even if you don’t catch anything, it’s a good time. Just relax outdoors with friends (or even by yourself), chill out and get away from everything.
There’s a reason they say “a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work.”
Now, just wait until one of those blessed days when the fish are biting like mad. Then you’ll become an addict.

(I initially typed “then you’ll be hooked” without even noticing the terribly lame pun. Glad I’m paying attention today.)
