What has your SO said about you? In my case, the last time she said that sentence, it ended with “geek.” I can’t help it. I did it when we saw the movie in the theater, I did it again when we watched the DVD. The movie? X-Men III. When Beast swung into action during the Battle of Alcatraz, I started bouncing up and down in my seat like a 3 year old. Oh boy oh boy oh boy! Get’em, Beast!
The wife is willing to go to these movies with me, but she doesn’t feel them on a gut level like those of us who grew up with them.
Anybody else get that reaction from someone about something you get excited about that they don’t quite get?
I throw “You are such a dork!” at the boyfriend all the time. If he’s being particularly mocking about something, “You are such an asshole!” He loves it though.
I felt the same way about Beast. I was audibly “ooh ooh”-ing at that moment as I did with Nightcrawler.
It didn’t happen to me but I was there when it did happen. I have two step-brothers and one is an internet addict so my step-dad made a rule where they take turns on the computer in half-hour increments. Well I was over for dinner and was visiting with them in the computer room and the addicts time was up and he was to relinquish the chair to the other one but he wouldn’t get out of the seat and just kept surfing while the other kept telling him to move.
So the one says to the addict:
“You’re such a jerk.”
and without missing a beat the addict says:
“I’m not short. The doctor said I’m of average height.”
