You fucked up, home-schooling, Jehovah Witness, MURDERING pieces of shits.

Whata bunch of kneejerkers.
ok here I go
throatshot: I don’t care who you contact IMHO I did nothing wrong (it is up to the Mods to decide, but I am almost certain I am totally in the clear here). One can find humor in anything, it is a defense mechanism for events befalling some people, it is a way some people deal with the pains in life. Hell Carlin goes over this in his Rape can be funny routine

TwistofFate: my attempt at humor wasn’t on aimed at the beating and the death of the child, it was aimed at the wanted result of the beater, and the actions he took to get the result. I do still stand by the fact one can find humor in the actually beating if they look at it from the right angle, but screw it once you have to explain something to someone it tends to lose any punch.

gobear: Feel free to curse me, cause I daily kill kittens deflect such actions

Hamlet: eh, someone found it funny, it is all in the eyes of the reader, I think you all need to chill out some. The Modest Proposal was about solving the starving problem in Ireland by eating babies, I think the allusion was close enough to be right, You just trying to nitpick to grandstand to the majority, nice attempt, but IMHO a failure.

I look like an idiot because a piece of dark humor struck me as being kind of funny? The reason I laughed wasn’t beacuse the death of someone was funny. The reason I laughed was because “…doesn’t disobey her parents anymore.” was such an absurd response that it merited a little giggle.

Let’s see, what other tragic sources have I drawn a few giggles from. After my father died we had him cremated and a few days later we had the ashes brought over to the house. We didn’t buy a fancy urn or anything because we just planned on dumping him in the Arkansas River. (Watch out you fishermen.) Being the curious fellow I am I opened the plastic box it was in. Except that it opened kind of odd and a big plastic bag of my Dad fell out right onto my mother’s lap. Now at first my eyes got wide and I thought “holy shit what did I just do?” But after a second the scene struck me as incredibly funny and my mother, my sister, and I all got a good laugh out of it.

The day after my father died my mother’s employers sent us enough BBQ to feed about 20 people. First thing I said when I saw all the BBQ was “We should do this more often.”

People have all sorts of different mechanisms they use to deal with tragedy. Some people get sad, some people get angry, and some people even use humor. His little joke did not strike me as being meanspirited so it did not offend me.

Marc

I really hate to jump into a boiling kettle of water, especially when a lot of folks I respect are the ones turning up the heat, but I’ve just got to say: I don’t think this deserved the response it got. I thought it was funny. No, it didn’t make me laugh out loud, and I doubt the OP was giggling as he/she posted it. It’s a joke that gets a “heh,” without taking away from the depressing element (ie, the whole thing) of the story. You think, “yeah, the fucker sure did get what he wanted.”

In fact, the joke clearly points out (in fact, the thing that makes it humor at all, and gives it its purpose) that the ends did not justify the means at all, in fact the proportion is incrediably skewed. I find that just bizarre, and even funny. Not that someone died, but that there is such a schism between what this guy wanted and what he did to get it.

So, just throwing in my support for llamasex. I understand how the joke could bother people, but I do not think he deserved the lambasting he has received so far.

: bolding mine :
Can I see your face from where I am sitting in my front room in Dublin, Ireland?
Llamasex gave no indication that he was joking, not a rolleyes, not an angry smiley, nothing.

He comes into a thread about a child getting beaten to death by her father and makes a “humourous” remark.

If he finds that funny, well, thats his sense of humour. But he shouldnt be surprised that he provokes ire from the rest of the participants.

Sarcasm? yeah, really good use of it.

As TwistofFate pointed out, had the poster added a rolls eye smiley or any other way of emoting, most people would have gotten it (including myself) and understood. In retrospect, and after reading llama’s comments, I actually believe he did intend his remarks to be sarcastic. But the key word there is “intend.”

No, but I have personally seen and heard this type of comment about tragic situations enough to guess (and hope) that llamasex meant to be sarcastic. I think certain fairly mainstream comedians use this type of humor frequently.

The second comment was kind of stupid.

And, I am now gathering llamasex has been inappropriate elsewhere, but I stand by my assertion that it was clear that sarcasm and/or irony were being used in his first comment to demonstrate that the murderingly abusive father did a terrible thing.

llamasex should be banned because his lack of a “” or other such rendered his post ineffective in conveying what was probably sarcasm?

Let it go.

[slight hijack]

MGibson, thanks for the stories about your dad and the BBQ. I laughed out loud.

We had something similar happen with my grandpa’s ashes. We were going to scatter them just off the beach in front of his house (totaly illegal in CA, but who cares? No-one was surfing that day). We all get ready to go meet the boat, and then I yell “Who’s got grandpa?” We had left the box in the living room! Poor guy almost missed his own funeral…

[/slight hijack]

I guess I have to come down on the side of llamasex IN THIS THREAD. Sure, without explanation, the comment might have justified some action. But having explained that it was a joke, that should have been it.

Good stuff MGibson, you might enjoy this one:

While preparing to lower my mothers urn into the small hole in the ground, a bee began to dive bomb everyone (prob attracted by the flowers etc)
a couple of people said to me: “look out! a bee!”
I stared at them and replied: "a bee??? we are putting Mom in the GROUND! you think a BEE can hurt me???"

It was funny if you were there.

I snickered at llamasex’s comment, my family says stuff like that all the time. (and if I wasnt offended, that says alot, everything offends me lately.

This is deeply distressing (the OP, not the whole llamasex thing).

Well, I didn’t laugh at llamasex’s joke, but only because I’ve heard it before. Lighten UP, people. Take a step back and think: was llamasex being sarcastic, or was he approving of beating a child to death? Never attribute to malice what you can attribute to sarcasm.

Damn, damn, damn. This is clearly ‘dicipline’ going way too far. But I submit, Hamlet, that not all Jehovah’s Witnesses are murderers. In fact, it is so, so rare that a member would commit murder that when one does it, it becomes news.

I don’t think anyone here said otherwise - Hamlet was talking about this pair of heartless thugs, not any broad sweeping generalizations. There really are no words for these people.

For llamasex, on the other hand, there are quite a few choice words, which are currently being spelled out in the thread which bears his name. Now that I have read this one, I think I’ll go drop a note in the other.

I think the inclusion of the words “Jehovah Witness” in the subject line was wrong. You wouldn’t have put “Jewish” or “Catholic”, would you? What they did to their child was not based on chuch teachings, but on their perversion of the words of the Bible.

They may be fucked up, home schooling, child beating, religious fanatic, mentally ill pieces of shit, but they aren’t Jehovah Witnesses - they just call themselves that.

My best friend was a Jehovah Witness, when I was 10 years old. We went to school together. Her father was a strict diciplinarian, but never hit the children. Rather, I was shocked to learn that the children were being punished for misbehaving by having the television locked in the shed for 12 months. As an adult, I met an ex-Jehovah’s Witness who told me that wasn’t normal for a JW, and that the family was considered extreme by most of the rest of their congragation. This hardly makes me think that the religion approves of a man beating his children to death.

I have hesitated to post for a while because the crime these depraved sociopaths committed is beyond my capacity for understanding or forgiveness. I just don’t have the words to express my shock and abhorrence.

As for Llamasex’s post, I got the meaning, thought to myself, “Yeah, that’s for sure”, but I was way too far into the brutality of the beating of a child to death, to find it in any way humorous.

I take Llamasex at his word that he was only being sarcastic. It’s my guess that he hasn’t had any up-close and personal experiences with true brutality, that might otherwise have tempered his judgement.

And I noticed the suicide attempt on the father’s part… interestingly, if this fanatical soon-to-be-cellblock-slut indeed grooves on an extreme interpretation of JW theology, guess what he thinks awaits him as well as the wayward child afterwards…? NOTHING Since in that theology, the wicked simply get oblivion. The walking turd is NOT in fear of hellfire for snuffing innocent life, he is in greater fear (rightfully) of living out his life with a vigorously stretched hind sphincter.

And the mother… oh, that’s a winner… a health care professional and she allows her child to be attacked with what is basically a metal flail…

Oh, yeah, and by the way…

AM I REALLY TO UNDERSTAND THAT WITHOUT A  OR STRATEGICALLY PLACED “IRONIC QUOTES”, PEOPLE COULD NOT TELL THAT OUTRAGEOUS STATEMENT FROM llamasex WAS BEING MADE CYNICALLY??? Good Lord, talk about diminished expectations…

[SUB]Then again, I have been flamed for stuff that HAD a smiley…[/sub]

WTF does ‘home schooling’ have to do with it.

Well, to begin with, it isolates the children from adults who may realise that they are being abused and try help them.

I’m still waiting for someone to email the mods to request I be banned.
Come on, how fucking tough is this? Let’s go, slackers.

Sure wish someone’d linked an article on this. Didn’t make the news here in Seattle, far as I can tell.

That said, what caught my eye was the order in the OP title:
Homeschooling, Jehovah Witness, MURDERING etc.

Nice priority to the rant there. Homeschooling had exactly what to do with this despicable crime? And of course, though I’m not one myself, all JW’s advocate child beatings to the death.

I’m probably being just a tad touchy about this, but thought I’d point it out.
And by the way, I wasn’t offended by llamasex and his joke. Was off base, very tasteless, but hey, I’ve heard worse from people who meant their joke to be taken seriously!
