If I had to spend the whole grand, I’d cook at home and eat leftovers like a King.
I can’t imagine a celebrity would ever set foot in my house.
But, hey! Why not play?
Big tray of fresh oysters, sliced meats (expensive shit, no Oscar Meyer) and fancy cheese
Caviar and stuff like that
Wine, beer and all the other booze anyone could possibly want
Escargot, jumbo shrimp, crab and lobster
Huge chunks of filet, a stack of rib-eyes, a side of beef ribs
Lamb, cooked on a separate grill, far from the house
An entire pig on a spit
A couple of Turduckens
18 pounds of the best bacon I can round up
A 60lb cheesecake
More booze!
I eat like this most nights. But I substitute garlic bread for most of that.
Luckily thebest restaurant in Britain is a stone’s throw from me. It is regional, seasonal and seafood based. That’s right up my street as well as being literally right up my street.
As for price, I wouldn’t need $1000. The top of the range tasting menu is £65pp. Three courses a la carte would set you back £50 tops. Throw in a couple of good bottles of wine for another £50 plus a 10% tip (we aren’t in the USA after all) and you are looking at just over $200 to eat and drink well at the best restaurant in the UK. Pretty good deal.
A good friend of ours is a chef with a special interest in nouveau cuisine. I’d hire him to do a five-course dinner at our home with wines/beers with each course. The meal would be extra-great, as he would do it for his cost.
He recently donated a dinner like this to a charity silent auction. I was top bidder for a while, but dropped out when things got too rich for my blood.
The Hitching Post 2 although it would be hard to break $100/ person on food. They do have world class wine so we’d probably be able to blow through $500
I’m not aware of any place in my city that costs more than $200 a person. I’ve never been because I don’t like fine dining.
I’d take my honored guest to the best steakhouse in Little Rock. Sonny Williams Steak Room. A porterhouse is $56. The appetizers, salad, sides, and drinks would bring the cost to about $125 a person.
Seems like the OP is basically just asking us for the most expensive restaurant within driving distance. I’m in the D.C. area, where there is no shortage of high-end restaurants: the most expensive is a place called Minibar, at $275/person (not including tax, tips, or drinks).
I’d take WWE’s Wyatt Family to Cosmic Cantina in Durham NC. It’s on the upper floor of a downtown tenement. The stairs are rickety, the floor creaks, the initials-carved tables and chairs are all uneven and wobbly, the menu is written in chalk, but there’s no better Mexican food anywhere.
Bruce Campbell, my family, and I would be having groovy Mexican food at Los Molcajetes in Roanoke, Texas. It doesn’t cost anywhere near $1,000, but is expensive enough that we can’t eat there too often.
I’d go to Disney’s Victoria and Albert’s even though it would be slightly less than $1000 – but would be $1000 or more once we get to the wine pairings and I use some of the cash to buy a suit to wear (I have a business suit but they ideally want something fancier.)
The major cities within 100 miles of me are Nashville (TN), Huntsville (AL) and Birmingham (AL). Out of those, Highlands Bar & Grill in Birmingham is probably the best restaurant.
In my city (Huntsville) it would be the Cotton Row but there’s no way you can spend anywhere close to $1000. The most expensive entree is $38.
