You Have NOTHING to Lose and EVERYTHING to Gain!!!!

I’m watching this Don Lapre infomercial, and he’s got these two hyper airheads–one man, one woman–hyping his product while that music plays and they pan around to shots of yachts, mansions, and beaches. Anyway, these people are really convincing–Don’s going to give me hundreds of dollars of stuff free–I would expect to pay at least $500 for all this extra stuff in his package. (I don’t know why, and I’ve never seen these things for sale in retail stores, but I would expect to pay that much nonetheless) And now this hyper woman shilling his product goes on to tell me, “You’ve got NOTHING to lose, and EVERYTHING to gain.” and that really throws me for a loop.

Okay, I can kind of grasp the concept of having nothing to lose, but I’m not sure I can deal with the prospect of having “Everything to gain”. I can’t fathom the concept of the omnipotence I would possess after buying the Don Lapre package. Moreover, I find a vexing conundrum as I consider that more than one person has probably bought this package. As the woman says, once you buy the package, you are God…but if thousands of people have bought the package, there must be many thousands of omnipotent individuals now…but being omnipotent would mean that you have the capability of creating or destroying anything…yet you would not be able to destroy another person who has bought the Lapre package, because you cannot control another omnipotent being.

Also, if Lapre himself is omnipotent by virtue of knowing all these marketing secrets, why did his company file for bankruptcy?

Which means the only possible defense is to buy the stuff, isn’t it?

If you became omnipotent, would you pay yourbills?
