How dare you! I work my butt off for you and have done everything you ask. You tell me to see 20 patients a day and I see 22! You complain that I come in on my vacation to finish up charts but tell me I can’t stay after hours to do it either! And now I find out that the new doc you hired is making the same as me??? He’s right out of residency! I have 8 years of experience, 5 of them working for you and you can’t bring yourself to give me even a cost of living increase in the last 2 years, not to mention the rumors about cutting salaries because we are losing money. I am goddamn sick and tired of being the only productive one in this place, seeing 40-50% more patients than any of the other doctors and getting absolutely no credit for it. If it wasn’t for the productivity bonus I sure as hell ought to get this year I’d quit right now. You think you’re losing money now? Just wait and see what happens when I leave! You think that just anybody can make this practice work? Well just remember the lazy sack of shit doctors who were here before me. I see more patients than the two of them combined did! You have moved me to 3 different offices in 5 years and my patients follow me because I am a damn good doctor! I want some recognition or I walk and by God I’ll take my patients with me!!!
YA know, the bizzare thing is, I work in Hospital materials Management. I am at the bottom of the ol’ totem pole. I have said almost exactly the same rant out loud. I always thought that the Doctors had it made.
I was wrong. This kind of thing is pervasive at ALL levels.
Gah.
I think I will quit and become homeless. No bosses then!
