Soooo… the OP turns out to be a case of Republican politicians fucking up the system, and then trying to spin the mess and blame the Democrats who were fighting the abuse?
Well, I’d be appalled, except that’s the kind of ham-fisted tactic I’d expect from a “dopeheaded, dumbass, dickfaced, dunderbrained, dookie-breathed” Republican.
Yea, kind of ironic that the group pushing for the thing that would spend lots of taxpayer money, yet another special session, is the “good guys” in the OP. Especially given that the public has weighed in on this issue saying it shouldn’t be pursued.
Group A: Pushing for yet another expensive special session against public opinion to execute a plan which is of dubious merit and the public doesn’t want executed.
Group B: who would be happy to go home but know that if they do they’ll be rounded up and forced to come back to the session at gunpoint by the Texas Rangers.
It would seem a special session would be reserved for emergency uses. Like the insurance crisis or the budget crisis. I don’t know if it’s the most important thing for Texans to have redistricting. But I do think it’s important for Texans to have insurance and state services. So I think the Republicans are being irresponsible for pushing for restricting ahead of much more important problems. Even in the regular session they had it scheduled before the state budget was resolved. I also think the Dems are being babies for running away.
