You know that big arch in Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn?

I got to go up on top of it today!

Apparently there is a group called Open House New York will open up places not normally open to the public. I just went to Prospect Park to finish a roll of film and I just happend to stop to take some shots of the fountaing near the arch and then I saw the line of people. So I got on the line and went up. It was free! Free, I tell ya! One the volunteer guides told me that last year he went up in the Little Red Lighthouse!

It looks like they had something at the Green-wood Cemetery, complete with a tour of the Steinway Tomb! OH man.

Did you happen to see any monkeys from that vantage point?

No. :o :o

Maybe one of the Hurricanes carried him off to a more natural environment.

While you were there, did you see the statue of …Stranahan!!!

(

That’s cool! I used to live in Kensington on the other side of the park and always enjoyed walking over there.

I took a picture of the Brookly library from up there so Stranahan is probably in it.

It’s strange because although you can get to the roof, you can not cross to the other side of the arch on the roof. Unless you climb over the statue and I don’t think the park ranger would have let me.
