In a similar thread some time ago, someone posted a link to FoxReplace. If you’re using Firefox, you can set a filter that automatically changes certain text on any loaded webpage to some text of your choice. The suggestion is to change whatever signoff phrases you find grating like “Respectfully,” or “Regards,” into something that will amuse you, such as “'Scuse me, my underwear could use a freshening-up,” or “As always, faithfully worshipping Justin Bieber”.

I have since ceased to be annoyed by the signoffs after installing this add-on.

The first place I ever saw FoxReplace mentioned on this board was in this 2009 pit thread, linked to by Darryl Lict. I thought it was a nifty tool that did exactly what I’ve always said should be done. Allow those who are annoyed by signatures to take matters into their own hands and remove them from their own view of the thread, without forcing their preferred behavior on others. In fact I wrote a post giving technical details on how to strip out multi-line sign offs like I use(please note this was almost two years ago, I have no idea if the current version of FoxReplace works exactly the same as it did then). Because, as I said back then.
