Help me out here, folks. This cornucopium of toys is new to me. I had a private message and I replied to it (or at least I think I did.) Both the message and the reply are gone.
Is that normal? Does a message disappear when you read it, or reply to it? Can they be archived?
I’ve had two, one who seems cool but hasn’t posted to any threads I’ve posted in that I can see, and one who’s only posted three times, all in 2007.
By default the PMs store in your Inbox and the ones you Send in your Sent Items folder. You have to uncheck the Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder. option for it not to save.
In the upper right hand corner of the SDMB page it should say
Welcome, Freddy the Pig.
You last visited: Today at timepm
Private Messages: Number unread in Bold, Total messages stored.
Example:
Welcome, What Exit?.
You last visited: Today at 02:40 PM
Private Messages: 0, Total 33.
Clicking the Private Messages link gets you to your inbox.

I think I hate this new function. I’ve been trying to visit everybody I like, which turns out to be…everybody…and now I see this friend function, so I feel I should go back and friend everyone (but not now). And I don’t want to visit people without actually reading their profiles, so that takes some time. I haven’t even read the boards today.
So damn many of you! It’s like trying to stamp on every ant coming out of a stirred-up anthill.

To the people using the friend feature, what does it do? Is it just a list of the people you like?
I don’t think it does anything, yet.
The old list did nothing also, but was nice and compact and was handy for keeping track of a large group of posters that shared an interest with me and a few others of DopeFest reasons.
That shows how much I pay attention. I didn’t know the old board even had friend lists. Thanks, What Exit.
