This just happened to me within the last few hours (and also explains what I’ve been doing the last few hours). I mean it started out by reading the article on John Dillinger and suddenly, I’m clicking all around reading about organized crime members throughout the 1920s to the 1960s. Such interesting stuff and stories…I may have to stay up all night reading it.
Yeah, the drop-down list for members in the threads still isn’t working. I wonder if they’re working on that?
Which drop down is that? I never noticed that function.

All of a sudden, I’m supremely grateful for the one person who has clicked my profile. It makes me feel needed.
I refuse to entertain the thought that that person clicked on my post by mistake. No, indeed, they were intrigued by my corpus of work on this Board and just had to know more about me.
Unfortunately, there’s nothing in my profile except my location and statistics. Maybe I should put some stuff in there to reward the curious.
I actually really like the feature. There are people who have looked at my profile that I’ve never directly spoken to. It gets me interested in conversing with folks that I might not have otherwise.
Plus, I don’t feel nearly so guilty about stalking other Dopers, now, since I know everyone else does it, too.

I’ve clicked on a couple of user names, too. Nothing weird meant by it! I just like seeing if people have journals or blogs listed. Which actually does sound stalkerish, but I’m just a blog admirer! :o
So, when do -we- get profiles?
I log on to pay for a subscription and you bastards make it free! How will everybody know how clever I am without a witty location tagline! AUGH! 
Yeah, but it makes us really easy to spot each other in a crowd!

The drop-down list that comes up when you click on a member’s name in a thread. Funnily enough, it is working in other threads in the Pit, but not this one. 
I just tried yours, it is working in both IE7 and Google Chrome. I am on a Vista machine currently.
I’ve noticed that, too. It works in some threads but not in others. I have found if you right-click on the username and select open in new window it opens to their profile.
I believe I have looked at more Doper profiles in the last two days than I have in the last two years.
I had 12 visitors (though it only shows the last 8) and 2 friend requests (which I just accepted). I never look at my own profile so I had no idea about either of those options. I suppose I should update my profile and maybe add something interesting so y’all who drop by have something to actually see.
To my friend requesters, I wasn’t ignoring you…I just didn’t know that was there!
