You may not drive a great big Cadillac...

Ok, if you know this song, exactly what is a “gangster lean”?

As i understand it, this is a reference to the suspension systems that you sometimes see attached to gangsters/pimps/whatevers cars. You know, the ones that allow wheels to be individually raised and lowered to make the car “dance” on the spot? I believe originally these were cannibalised from the suspension systems of aircraft, but this is not important right now.

Anyway, you can use them to hitch up one corner of the car’s suspension, so the whole car leans at an unconventional angle. This is of no practical use whatever, but as the relevant saying goes “you’ve gotta lean to be mean”

Great song, by the way.

I always thought it was when the “gangsta” leaned in his seat way to the left with his ear practically touching the window and his arm straight out with a fist on the steering wheel.

How to Gangsta Lean:

Slide your drivers seat way back so you can barely touch the pedals. Now tilt the seatback way back so you can barely see over the dashboard.

You are now cool.
