It’s the nature of peace that you don’t get to have it if the other guy doesn’t want you to. Violence and coercion are unilateral acts.
To put it in USAsian terms, he was a victim of “freedom”.
Hasn’t that been true for like forever.
We can’t change mans need to war with the “other”.
All we can hope for is a bit of peace and safety in our own life. Maybe you can help a friend or family member.
To be sane I have to believe there’s a way to live with this.

And yes Lennon was killed by a crazy person. I don’t think Chapman had a political statement. I think he wanted to be famous. And he was nuts.
That doesn’t negate Lennon’s thinking and writing about a better way.
