I get a check every year from my parents electric co-op. I took my paper from the probate court that made me the “official” person, and they transferred the account into my name. I cash the check and split it with my sister. Last time we got almost 20 bucks each!
I’m gonna regret asking, but what does pot have to do with poor dental hygiene? Get so stoned you forget to brush before bedtime?
My husband brought home delicious cookies. The problem? Some of them have bacon in them. BACON DOES NOT BELONG IN COOKIES! Bacon is fine with eggs, in pasta or potato salad. Not in my goddamned cookies.
Just the smoking part. Smoking anything will mess with your oral health. Compound the smoking with two plants, just pointing out she smokes constantly between the one that can be done in public plus the one at home. Add questionable brushing habits since childhood (“we didn’t know we had to brush all the time”) and compound the problem again with a case a week of the worst of the worst sodas for tooth enamel. I feel sorry for her, she’s really sweet and she really does have a bad problem, but asking for 20 grand? Save it up, buttercup, quit all that stuff and you’ll have the cash in no time.
I’ve known her for 10 years and it’s all catching up.
Hope that’s not a regrettable answer.
I just noticed how many more keystrokes it took for you to apologize for abbreviating the name than it would have taken you to just, yanno, type out SeaDragonTattoo.
So, recently my friend group has expanded (slightly against my unspoken will) to include some high school friends of my college friends. And one woman has a predilection for grinding a bit of black pepper on her chocolate chip cookies before she bakes them. Because I’m so gracious I make myself sick, I haven’t once said a word other than how inventive, but I’ve sampled these cookies over the past few months. The other day, I was at a book club session that included a plate of chocolate chip cookies. Lord help me, if I didn’t eat one and think, “Just a bit of black pepper would really kick this up a notch.”!
In other news, I’m starting to loathe the phrase “change my view”. It appears to be code for “I’m about to say something ridiculously racist, sexist, genderist, or just plain ignorant”
Whacks poster with soggy matza.
The husband is Irish. He’s tall. He’s smart, compute literate and plays Scrabble better than anyone I’ve ever met. He’s gloriously dark haired and has sparkling blue eyes and a charming wit. But he needs to stick to things the Irish are good at like potatoes and making beautiful little girls.
Wonders about those days that you forget to check.
You did a very good thing. So many people would have just driven by without even noticing. Thank you so much.
The diner in the happening place of Tucumcari NM has bacon and maple syrup ice cream sundaes. Every time we are there, Bill makes a point to stop for lunch and get one of them. They aren’t bad at all…but there is something about mixing bacon and ice cream that is just wrong.
My rant: I don’t like my new drugs. I actually don’t like taking anything anyhow, but these are making me cry all the time. Not huddling in the corner of the shower and crying my eyes out while hot water beats down on me sort of crying, but everything is suddenly sad and my eyes are constantly leaking.
I know it will get sorted out…my mantra now is “this soon will pass”.
My aunt and I were both staying at Mom’s recently; we convinced her that yes, really, she is going deaf damnit. Disregarding your children’s complaints about your TV being too high and their "I’m right here"s is a lot easier than when it comes from your sister; also, several times Aunt and I heard alarms and bells that Mom did not. I told Mom, let’s get you checked and if you’re at the point where hearing aids will be useful I’ll pay for them; if you’re at that point and refuse to wear them, you’re not coming to my house (hey, my hearing is good and I want it to stay that way!).
One of the things she hadn’t heard? “I’ll pay for them” :smack: She’d asked about for prices and recommendations and the price of the ones her BF wears was in the 5K range 4 years ago; we went to the place that’s recommended as having the best audiologist in town and the pair Mom needs will be 3K.
If she can really get used to the things, those 3K will go to the same folder as the 2K for my Lasik, “best investments of my life”. If she can’t, there shall be lots of drama. But in any case, how can there be so much difference between an independent place (the one we went to) and a chain (which in theory should be cheaper)?
Egad, that’s a worse cookie ingredient than raisins.
It might be possible that you’re no longer emotionally numb and thus dealing with feelings again. Be gentle with yourself.
Snort - have you also noticed that I’m kind of an idiot?
Here is a list of things have have annoyed me this week.
[ol]
[li]I can’t tell if I should have used a colon just now.[/li][li]I have a mosquito bite right under the edge of my sock on my ankle.[/li][li]Bottles. Everyday the bottles have to be cleaned. So many bottles.[/li][li]The ways my husband reacts when I ask him to clean bottles.[/li][li]The fact that my doctor feels that she had to sell vaccinating my child. Shouldn’t it just be automatic? Of course I want her to not die of pertussis.[/li][li]I’ve apparently lost ten pairs of baby socks. Does the dryer find the baby socks extra tasty?[/li][/ol]
We haven’t slept well this week all of the sudden. I might be a little extra irritable.
-
Did you poop just now? If so, yes, you should have used a colon. Oh, did you mean on the preamble for your list? Well, it’s nice, but the period you used is technically acceptable.
-
If you put on longer socks, the mosquito bite will no longer be right under the edge. The same is true if you take your socks off.
-
Do you have an automatic dishwasher? It’s a perfectly adequate appliance for washing baby bottles.
-
Next time your husband gives you any guff about asking him to wash the bottles, have him read this.
-
I have no suggestions to offer you about that. Antivaxxerrs suck.
-
How old is your baby? Does she really need to be wearing socks all the time? And does she really get them THAT dirty? Maybe you could give washing them a miss. And check the lint screen in the dryer. Or get one of those net bags to put them all into when you launder them, so they all stay together.
Yes! Any effort you take to keep her hearing will be effort well spent. Bless you for stepping up.

[li]I can’t tell if I should have used a colon just now.
. . .[/li]
The introductory sentence was a complete one, so a colon is not required. If it had been incomplete, as in: “A list of things . . .”, then it would have been.
If it’s getting bad, you could try diaper-pinning the pairs together before they’re put in the laundry.
I have never seen this comic before, and today I was forwarded it by a pregnant friend who received it from her husband. Spooky…
I’m not going to lie; I thought that this mini-rant was going to go in very different direction when I read this sentence…
Do you know how you stop seeing pets and don’t notice that they are going downhill? OK, maybe that is just me…but I just took a good look at our gray cat. His feet and ears and muzzle are silver. He also objected to me touching his front paws. He was front declawed when he showed up on my doorstep and has never had problems with me handling his feet until now.
Lucky will be going to the vet tomorrow. Bill thinks that its not age, its metal poisoning from when he was shot in the face. I did get the fragments removed, but the poor guy carried them around for months before I realized there was a problem.
Long back story, but he was one of the strays I was feeding and since I could tell that he was fixed, and because he wouldn’t get close to me…I just kept feeding him until the day he came to the door during a monsoon storm and cried to be let in.
I really love that little fuzzbutt and I know that it doesn’t matter what the cause is, Lucky is still going to die. All we can do now is be sure that his passing is gentle and kind.
I really feel like drinking some of Bill’s beer, which is probably a bad idea. Drugs and EHOL are a not a good thing.
Remember the aids as a possible tax deduction.
Hang in there. Let us know what the vet says about Lucky.
