I don’t own any of the ‘classic’ style of plastic, y-shaped thong flip flops. I’ve never, ever liked them and can’t bring myself to like them now.
I have several pair from JCrew. They have a collection that have silk fabric as the thong material; they’re very cute. I another pair that feature braided leather for the thong. I have another pair that has turquoise stones in the thong. I have another pair that has beautiful crystals in the thong with a leather sole. I have a couple pair of Oakleys–they’re a little more athletic-looking than the others. That’s all I can think of off the top of my head.
I like them because they can be dressed up or dressed down (obvious in the case of the latter) and I ain’t gettin’ pedicures for nothin’ over here.
I have a pair of those that I use when showering at the gym. Those things will last for years and years. My grandad wore them pretty much all the time when he retired and they would last forever. My grandmother would throw them out when they got really nasty and worn. They were pretty cheap so he would get a few pair at a time.
Personally as a 38-year old male, I despise them and any shoe-like thing that shifts about unpredictably. I want nothing but solid, steady footwear. However just to validate Dinsdale…
Aren’t G-strings and thongs different? G-strings, from my understanding, have less fabric than a thong. I have some thongs (the kind that you wear under pants), and they could definitely have some fabric removed and serve their purpose.
