This is exactly why I admire what Bricker is doing here. He’s putting his money (or his SDMB cred) where his mouth is. While it’s possible that this thread may come back to haunt him later, at least he won’t be switching sides later like some posters may. Wish I had the balls to do something like this.

I predict that Bush will lose. I have several reasons, but I think its going to happen. Namely, it looks like Kerry is going to be the nominee. I don’t really care so much for the cantidate, but Kerry isn’t afraid of MAD as in Mutual Assured Destruction. If he loses to bush it won’t be because he didn’t put up a fight. Also I am trying to imagine a bush campaign right now, and I can’t see him going to a battleground state where he isn’t constantly heckled. Edwards is simply a more talented politician and he would win too. Its very silly to predict a win for your guy Bricker at this stage. You know nothing of what will happen. And don’t expect the media to always be on your side. If Bush bashing becomes the new fad, they’ll jump right in on it. I think the media would do this more if Edwards were the nominee, because Edwards make bush look like a bad guy in comparison.

While it’s true that Bricker may be able to point to this post a year from now and say “I told you so,” let us not forget that the converse is also true.
But I share the frustation of the OP about the overwhelming flood of knee-jerk, liberal hateful stupidity that has washed over this board.
It used to be that the Svinleshas and Jonathan Chances, and RTFs, and Spiritus Mundis of this board were the rule. Now they appear to be exception. Wring’s disclaimer “Liberal, but not a nut,” has become a necessary disclaimer.

I’ll go way out on a limb here. I think its because we’re right, and have the facts to prove it. Just a wild assed guess. On the other hand, you don’t seem to offer any other theory. You’ve complained about this any number of times, and each time you get busted on it, you can’t seem to come up with anything.
Before the Recent Unpleasantness, these Boards were fairly evenly divided. But then the truth came out. And now you find yourself amongst a shrinking minority. This ought to tell you something. Of course, you’ll have to listen.

Right, inspired by the OP, it’s time I go on record. My prediction is that general disgust with the with the incompetence and greed of the Bush administration and ongoing concerns with Nominee Kerry’s waffling record, troubling associations with PACs, plus questions over whether that really is a dead squirrel on top of his head, will throw the whole electoral process up for grabs.
Lost and confused, milling about like frightened cattle, the electorate turns to the only logical alternative:
Why? Because it’s less filling and tastes great, presumably. And because Da Vid is a great name for a President. And apparently, their CD has some soothing music for these troubled times.

Wow, do I feel chastened. Sheepish. Ashamed. The paragon of decorum and reason has laid bare the base nature of my participation. Bricker, Scylla, Brutus, Sam Stone,december, The Professor and Mary Ann were standing about sagely discussing the cure for cancer, generating electrical power through nuclear fusion, and using the power of the market to provide education and health care for all, when I jumped into the middle of the group and farted.
Of course, I feel terrible. See, observing how these former alter boys behave now, and knowing that I was in part responsible for dragging their behavior down to the lowest common denominator, getting some banned, and causing others to start threads with premature gloating, while they were trying to build something deep and meaningful, well that fills me with great sadness.
Of course, on the other hand, this could be simply another Scylla-jism, and it could be that Scylla and his ilk have acted and will always act like dittoheads and the followers of Morton Downey, Jr., before there was Rush.
