You, Sir, Are a Sucky Director

:wally Somehow, in less than two weeks, you’ve managed to get yourself on the list of directors I’ll never work with again. That takes some talent, because I’ve loved most of the directors I’ve worked with, and I will work with them again. This is community theater–the only payment I get is two comp tickets, worth $20 (half that if I go to a matinee). I only do it because it’s fun, and if you’re a pain in the ass, I won’t work with you. And I know it’s not just me, because the rest of the cast doesn’t like you, either. You’re a sucky director.

Why did you think it was a good idea to change all of June’s costumes when you knew I wouldn’t be there for the first dress rehearsal? So here we are at the second dress rehearsal, and she looks like a clown. I thought maybe she picked out her own outfits, but after rehearsal, I found out that this was your idea. I picked out a really nice bathrobe that would have looked good on her, and instead she’s wearing this godawfully ugly bright blue bathrobe and red pajamas with huge gold braid. How can you look at that and not realize that she looks like a clown?! She’s supposed to be a woman with a little bit of money and taste, but she sure as hell doesn’t look like it now. Thanks for making her look like she’s going to run off and join the circus! I told you that her yellow sweater looks like crap, but I’m betting that when I see her come out on stage again, she’s going to be wearing that hideous, sloppy sweater. And we won’t even talk about the ugly, floppy jeans and clunky bright white shoes that just don’t work on stage. I didn’t want to do this show, because I’ve already agreed to do another one that starts really soon. I only did this as a favor to the producer, because he’s really sweet and I knew this wouldn’t take long. But I won’t do it again. That’s it, you’re on the list. And I’m really looking forward to the next show, because the director is adorable, he doesn’t try to second-guess me and change costumes at the last minute, and he’s a lot of fun to work with.
