You stupid cat, what the hell is wrong with you??

I’ve got photos of PC’s kittens… www.mbtree.com/kittens

PC herself is in this photo, with a caption about how happy she is! How times change… Damn, I just noticed the back link on that page is screwed up - I hope it’s the only one!

Cats IS weird… I’m chalking it up to hormones. I just hope she sorts herself out soon, because my mother is trying to convince me to take PC to the pet shrink (the same one who had Mum’s dog on anti-depressants). I really don’t want to go down that path.

Oh, and we called them “Skitties” - Skittish Kitties.

Bwahahahaha - your mum’s not Merkin is she?

Those kittens are entirely too cute!!! It looks like the little grey ones are russian blue judging by their fur. My cat Kru is a black cat like PC and my other cat is a russian blue. Have you tried a SuperSoaker?? That is what I trained my cats with and they dont get on the table anymore!! All they used to do is HEAR the swooshing of the water in the gun and they would take off!! At least that took care of the table problem. The full food bowl thing and still meowin, I deal with it every day of my life. I have no suggestion there.

Brief hijack, from a clueless 'murrican to the SDMB etymological deities: Where’d the word ‘moggy’ originate, and what, specifically, does it mean? I understand it’s another term for cats, but is it any particular breed/type of cat?

TIA…

My only advice would be to train with the “clap your hands and go ‘psst’ at them” method - make a loud, unpleasant noise that startles the cat, and you can do immediately (so you don’t have to find the water bottle first). Since cats don’t like to be startled, it works about as good as anything else for cat training (that is, they rarely get on the table in front of me, and jump down as soon as I clap my hands or hiss at them). That’s about as good as it gets.

This could be the sign of a larger problem. If you notice and changes in weight or if PC suddenly gets lethargic take her/him/it to the vet.

PC is merely exercising her divine right to drive you insane.

cazzle, I believe our cats may be related. My youngest kitty complains to me about her substandard food supply all the time, and she has the extremely annoying habit of not only ignoring prohibitions, but standing there looking annoyed while waiting for me to get out of sight so she can get back to whatever it was she was doing. Just today, she started to jump up on the counter while I was making lunch, and after I yelled at her, she went around to the other side of the counter to try jumping up there. I was standing within arm’s reach the entire time, dammit!

I think TelcontarStorm is right, though. It’s a failure of training. For whatever reason, be it inconsistency or a lack of diligence in general, she just hasn’t been able to train me yet.

We have made our “peace” (so to speak). We’re getting along much better, no jumping on the table, although I’m still inclined to snap when she starts meowing. However, we’ve had a cuddle and that makes me feel somewhat better. At least she’s affectionate as she manipulates me into a nervous breakdown.

I’m not English- but if I’m right, ‘moggy’ is the feline equivalent for ‘mutt’- a cat which may be loveable or not, but is not any particular breed but the result of generations of crossbreeding.
