This is extremely believable. Even if you’re a nutter, this is within the realm of reason. We’re not far away from this already. Goodbye, privacy!
Summary for those of us not wanting to watch a video right now?
I watched part of it before boredom and my desire for a coffee refill pushed me away from my computer. A brief summary from the page:
Three words: Autonomous Killer Drones.
Daniel Suarez wrote Kill Decision that does a pretty good job of extending this concept into the near future. It’s fiction but the technical concepts seem to be well researched and very possible.
I’m reading this now and it’s fascinating and horrifying.
Even better and related is Suarez’s two book series, “Daemon” and “Freedom”
I highly recommend all three of these. Eye opening.
Great summary. And true. How far away is the DHS, CIA, FBI from this, do you think? The drones are already there. We’ve remotely piloted LARGE drones with Hellfire missles on them seemingly forever. Fuck, there’s speculation that drones will replace human pilots in warplanes in the not too distant future and we’ll have robot wars with other countries, something that’s certainly been explored in Sci-Fi novels for awhile now.
But this shit is too close to reality to be bullshit, and it’s fucking scary. Merry Christmas!
Hmmm, A Drone War. Has a certain cinematic ring to it.
Have yourself a Merry little drone war,
Let your heart be light,
From now on your troubles will out of sight
Have yourself a Merry little drone war,
Make the Muslims pay,
From now on your troubles will be miles away…
For some time now I’ve been trying to convince people (without much success) that a setup the authorities call Social Activity Tracking Area Network has been monitoring our movements.
Yeah, it’s called Facebook and Google and Foursquare. It’s no secret. If you carry a phone you can pull up a map that shows the history of everywhere you’ve been throughout the day/week/year etc.
Click here to see what it shows you. If you have any type of social media set to automatically check you in, everyone (depending on your privacy settings) can see where you are, kinda. So, turn that off.
You can tell google to stop paying attention to where you are all the time in their privacy settings.
But you still have a cell phone on you. You can turn off it’s GPS, but so long as you’re getting a signal, someone still knows what (3) tower(s) your closest too and I’m sure that’s logged and saved for some set amount of time. On top of all that, with newer smart phones, even if their off, it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re still somewhat on and/or trackable.
In the end if you’ve got a cell phone in your pocket, someone knows where you and where you’ve been. Depending on what you do to protect that, may just take someone with your google password or someone with a warrant to dig it up. If you want to be untraceable, leave your phone at home and only use cash.
There has been some speak of facial recognition software being put to use in cameras in public areas, but they’re not tracking your every movement. They were talking about watching hoards of people at large venues. No one cares if you walk to the corner store and back.
Too long of a name; maybe if you had an acronym.
The marketing department have recommended calling it the Social Activity Network Tracking Area instead. People will be more comfortable with the authorities using it to determine if they’ve been good or bad.
Are you sure you don’t have that backwards?
There is a recent Economist article about military drones and a program called DCIST - Distributed and Collaborative Intelligent Systems and Technology being funded at major US universities.
Chillingly, it closes with
Looking forward to the movie.
Hope it is on Netflix.
None of that will be necessary once we all have neural implants and they can simply reprogram us during the next update cycle.
Well there you go. Even from watching the video from my OP I realized that what was depicted really can’t be that far off.
They can’t be bargained with,
they can’t be reasoned with.
They don’t feel pity, or remorse or fear!
And they absolutely will…not…stop…
EVER!
…until you are DEAD!
Well, they do release a lot of documentaries about some pretty fucked up shit we do, don’t see why they won’t cover this too.
Revelation 9:3 Then from the smoke came locusts on the earth, and they were given power like the power of scorpions of the earth.
It is already on Netflix- check out the final episode of season 3 of Black Mirror for an examination of the hijacking of mechanical bees for lethal purposes.
And check out episode 4 of season 4 for an episode about a mechanical killer attack dog that is creepily similar to robots the Army has already developed.
