You were just given $500...

Plane ticket. Though I like the idea of excellent Scotch.

Groceries for a month or two.

  1. A new pair of glasses. I’m getting tired of eye strain
  2. A trip to the dentist. I am now 8 months overdue for a cleaning
  3. The rest (if any) gets rolled into my Amazon account for future book and movie purchases (I have a list - if I have to actually spend it I’ll just go down that list until the money is gone)

My first thought was laptop but actually, I think what I’d rather do is get 5 or 6 of my friends and go somewhere really nice for dinner on me.

This week, I’m already planning on getting a tablet (as a birthday present for myself from my wife) and an iPhone (as a replacement; the old one has a couple of hardware issues that make it easier to replace than to repair).

If I had to spend $500, I could easily up the budget on the tablet.

Either a his-and-hers appointment for my wife and me with a very good masseuse, or a plane ticket to Kalispell next July.

A color duplex printer/scanner, one of those with a refillable ink reservoirs. With the change, I would buy chocolate.

Decent winter boots or maybe a less-expensive musical instrument of some sort.

A rigid heddle loom and supplies to go with it.

Or maybe a spinning wheel . . .

(I spin with a spindle, I’m not actually sure I want a wheel. I’m sure I want a loom, and I intend to get one after Christmas, when I have more time. )

Some nice wood to build the bay window storage bench I’ve been meaning to get around to.

Or, 500 tacos.

A barrelled upper receiver for the AR-15 I’m building.

A $500 money order.

There are 6-to-8 rather pricy Bible study books I’d like…

These nice bookshelves and trunk I saw at Pier One the other day but couldn’t justify.

A couple of fuzz pedals.

Hmm. I’d buy some tickets to a John Oliver show near me, and ones to an upcoming Bob Dylan concert that’s a bit too pricey for me to buy guilt-free without magic money. With the remainder, some new music, a couple of nice books the library doesn’t have I’ve been ogling, and a shirt or two.

My Vista computer is slowly crashing. Can I wait until the Windows 10 comes out?

Hit my Wish List on Amazon.

That, for example.

Books and good cigars.

Regards,
Shodan

Underwear, business shirts, some silk ties, some new summer shirts…

It wouldn’t take too long to spend $500.
