Just a casual observation here: in spite of the CBS brag about CSI being “the most watched show on television” I’m pleased that Dopers aren’t major supporters of that premise. I count four instances so far. Hardly a most watched show if you count favorites as an indicator of what’s being watched. CBS is pretty big on bullshit anyway, I have learned.

Cold Case

I’ve been watching too much tv too. This list could easily have four or five more shows.
I LOVE your user ID. I’m going to be laughing about it all day!
But there are so many others. I love TV!
I’ve noticed STEVEHOLT!!! but have yet to see the humor in the name. Now you have my curiosity up and I want to know why you’d be laughing. And all day at that. What am I not seeing or hearing?

Steve Holt is Gob Bluth’s son on Arrested Development and every time he comes into a room or knocks on a door or whatever, he yells his own name really loudly. I just find that very funny.
Here’s my top six that are airing now, in order:
Battlestar Galactica would have been in my top six last year, but I’m not enjoying this season as much. I’m also watching My Name is Earl and Bones.
Thanks for the explanation. I thought it might have been something along the lines of Mike Hunt.
24
Boston Legal
Criminal Minds
NCIS
The Soup

A couple of years ago, I probably would have had at least one CSI on the list; I still watch (NY is my current favorite), but I’m just not as enthusiastic about them as I used to be.
And no sitcoms on my list because, IMHO, almost all the current ones totally suck.
Most of mine would be repeats, but I’ll add one new show: Dirty Jobs. Host Mike Rowe meets up with the people who perform the dirtiest jobs on the planet (roadkill remover, septic tank cleaner, coal miner, pig farmer, etc.), and helps them perform their job for a day. His take on their jobs is hilarious to watch, and you learn a great deal about jobs you don’t think about much. I believe there’s a new episode on tonight, in fact. Discovery Channel.
I don’t have cable, so all my TV show watching is through DVD collections
I really haven’t watched anything else besides those
Hmm. In order of when they first appeared:
Twin Peaks
The X-Files
Homicide: Life on the Street
Band of Brothers (does this count as a show? If not, OZ)
Arrested Development
Supernatural
Heroes
Apparently, I ride long waves oscillating between fantasy and reality. I wonder what I’ll get into next (the Wire, maybe?).
I’m not sure what I’d put for numbers 1 - 5.
But Number 6 just has to be The Prisoner.
What about *Pink Lady and Jeff * ?
I thought Id come up with six TV shows no problem, but the only ones I really want to watch on a regular basis are Greys Anatomy, CSI NY, and Criminal Minds. That being said I do watch a far too much, other shows that could have made the list at some stage include The OC, Without a Trace, CSI Miami, Cold Case, Law & Order, ER, Roswell, Smallville, Sex and The City, Buffy, Angel…etc. Heroes just started here and it looks great but I managed to miss the third episode so Il probably give up watching now!

Thanks for asking.
