"Your body, my choice" - is it really true that gangs of boys are chanting this in schoolyards and other public places?

How about “My body, your choice”?

Let’s try this reblog

There are worse pickup lines.

Could be a T-shirt for orgies?

ETA: there is a sweatshirt with this for sale on Amazon

Oh, it’s definitely happening. From this New Yorker article:

Another district in the state [Minnesota] said that female students had received “your body, my choice” texts. There are parents all over social media reporting that their kids are hearing the phrase from boys at school. A therapist at a university in the Upper Midwest told me that a student she works with had gone to a frat party where one man had yelled it, and that the people around him hadn’t called him out.

Teenagers saying something controversial for the sake of causing outrage? Color me surprised.

It has to be nipped in the bud, before it becomes their adult behavior. Threatening peers is not a good way through life.

I agree. I also think a lot of the kids who are doing this are trying to make a viral TikTok video.

I’ve never watched a whole lot of Tiktok.

But I see loads of adults making a living off of YouTube.

Tiktok vids come and go.

I’d be willing to bet more adult men have said the “Your body, my choice” with vicious intent.
Teen boys might say it to be stupid in the hall way at school. But they say lots of things in those hallways.

I’m more concerned about adults doing it. And believing it’s true.

But you know, really, haven’t men been saying nasty things, cat calling to women for millennia? Not new.
