American Spirit black box are pretty tasty. They’ve got real perique. I smoke tobacco pipes almost exclusively, but I’m really into blends that contain perique, so it’s an easy transition if I ever get a hankering for cig - which isn’t often. Being a pipe smoker, I like *not *inhaling.
The first cigs I bought were Lucky Strikes - out of the WWII nostalgia/ tough guy factor. Not bad at all. Cigarettes just weren’t for me though. I’ve only smoked maybe three pack total in my life. They weren’t addictive enough apparently, but i like to try things just to see what they’re all about.
I needed the ability to select more than one option. I smoked three types regularly when I was a smoker; Djarum kreteks, Newports (preferring the more mentholated offshoot Newport Ice when it was available ~ 1994), and Lucky Strike unfiltereds. I answered Newports; I smoked a pack of Newports a day, a pack of Luckys every two days or so, and a pack of Djarums every three or four days.
I don’t smoke tobacco, but Marlboro is my brand. Years ago I was in a bar and women came in offering free packs of cigs to anyone willing to fill out a survey. I was with a friend who smoked Marlboros, and she asked me to scam a pack for her.
I filled out the survey and she got her freebies. Now, years later, I still get all kinds of coupons in the mail from them and I just give them away.
Camel Lights. In an emergency, Marlboro Lights. Pathetically, we are supposed to call them Camel Blue, as cigarette companies are no longer allowed to refer to any of their products as ‘light’, but I can’t get my head around it.
I do quite like a Dunhill or a Lucky Strike, when the mood takes me.
I haven’t smoked for a few years, BUT when I did, it was almost always Marlboro.
Every once in a while, when I was younger, we would splurge on Nat Shermans … Black and Golds for the guys, Fantasias for the ladies. I am also one of those people who don’t smoke who still LOVES the smell of cigarette smoke - especially outside on a fall day. The other afternoon, as I was coming out of my doctor’s office, I passed a young woman and I could tell by the smell that she was smoking a Nat Sherman, and wow, did that bring back good memories. (The sad thing here is that I was at a prenatal appt - you’d think that the smoke would bother me NOW but no, it smells as good as it ever did.)
Also, I just went to the Nat Sherman web site to confirm I had the name of the Fantasias right, and they are selling a chair based on a Cuban cigar factory worker’s chair, for $395. It is a sharp-looking chair.
When I smoked, I smoked Benson and Hedges. I honestly can’t tell you why.
Where I was in West Texas, there was someting of a smoking dichotomy. Blacks would smoke Kools, Hispanics would generally go for Winston, Whites chose Marlboro. (Trichotomy?)
I used to smoke Virginia Slims, and occasionally Marlboros and Bensen & Hedges.
I quit smoking over 5 years ago because a dear friend of mine died from lung cancer.
