OK. You’re forced to listen to only one genre of music for the rest of your life. Which do you pick?

Can’t wait to see how far down this will delve.
Singin the blues here.
Indie. And none of that “Well, they sound indie (like the Arcade Fire or The Decemberists) so we should label them that too despite being on major labels” crap, either.
Other: modern rock – pop punk plus bands with an indie sound (sorry elf.) Even looking at it from a broader perspective, they are so much a blend of rock n roll, hard rock, and classic rock (for the indie-style hooks) that it really cannot be counted as any of the above. Similarly the alternative rock (as opposed to trip hop / pop rock / beat influenced stuff) of the 90s would be at least a blend of hard rock and classic rock if not its own genre.
But in general, I don’t like 90s-sounding bands or bands that are so pop as to be pop (such as Metro Station).
Arm twisted behind my back? I’d have to go with what I grew up with - classic rock.
No category for that fiddle and banjo crap?
Folk
I was going to complain about the lack of “Bluegrass” as a choice until I realized that neither country or folk were listed either. I refuse to push my preferences into “other”.
Depending on the type I’ll stick with my metal like I have for the last 20 years.

Also noticed “world” was not on the list – so I voted for jazz.
I would have picked Alternative (Rock), but I picked Hard Rock/Metal.
But I like a lot of different music.
Does picking current hits mean that I get what is current now forever, or does it mean that over time I get whatever is current at the moment. If it’s the second, I’m in. Who knows what could come along?
I’m a musician who regularly plays gigs in different genres. And you want me to pick just one?
I had to think about this one, since I like most kinds of music. On the other hand, never being able to listen to the likes of Handel, Bach, Mozart, or Beethoven again … that was just too much for me to bear!
I picked “Hard Rock / Metal”, but my answer is actually “Hard Rock / Punk”.
My pick has no name that I’m aware of. I’ve heard it called “indie”, but as elfin points out, some of the bands I’d want to include are major label. The Decemberists are personal favorites, for example. I suppose modern rock/pop fusion, lyrically interesting and musically varied would describe what I’m favoring.
If that’s not a genre, I’ll switch to 20th-21st century folk.
Count me for hard rock/heavy metal!
I think you’re safe calling it “indie” as a genre, since, for better or worse, the literal meaning isn’t the most widely used anymore.
Indie would be my first choice as well and I can agree on modern folk, too, as long as it includes folk rock & alt-country.
Classic rock/hard rock.
I picked soundtracks because it seems to me that with the varied number of songs I hear in movies and the vast number of movies that exist, if I’m restricted to soundtracks, I can still listen to a large variety of genres.
