Home alone and feeling lazy? I’d cut it up the way I would for a toddler. Of course it would be leftover pasta. I don’t cook real food for just me.
It’s not my manners that go out the window when I eat by myself, it’s my eating habits. This evening is a good example. I’m the only one awake. I very daintily consumed a dinner of chocolate chips, ice cream, popcorn and a small mountain of crackers with pesto and tapenade on them, all washed down with a hefty glass of port.
My children, on the other hand, enjoyed a fairly healthy meal of scrambled eggs, broccoli (one of their favorite veggies) and clementines a couple of hours beforehand. This is why I usually eat with my children, especially when trying to lose weight.
The Three Second Rule is much more in force when nobody’s watching.
We’re more generous - it’s the Five Second Rule in our house.
When no one’s watching it’s the “I’ll hafta remember that’s there later” rule.
They are basically the same, put napkin on lap, knives and forks etc. the only thing I might do when I am alone, is put my elbow on the table. ( but hear my moms voice" elbows off the table Mable" in the back of my head)
About the only thing I do differently when I’m alone, is read at the table.
But I do that at breakfast anyway.
Although my behavior when eating alone is not as likely to change, there is a much greater chance that I’m nude or semi-nude.
I eat nude or in my underwear.
I’ll sit on the couch in front of the TV.
I eat asparagus with my fingers.
That’s really about it.
