Your favoriate James Bond theme song

I have a Shirley Bassey CD with her rendition of “Goldfinger” on it, and I like it a lot. It’s been a while since I heard some of the other Bond themes, but even so I’d have to say this one is probably my favorite.

A close second is Duran Duran’s “A View to a Kill”.

Which ones are at the top of your list?

I might as well get this out of the way. There’s only one Bond theme song, this one:

The others are hits that were created for the movies, but they aren’t the Bond theme song.
My favorite is Nobody Does It Better by Carly Simon, but that’s 'cause I loves me some Carly.

“Goldfinger” is the gold standard. The question should probably be "What’s your favorite Bond theme song besides “Goldfinger.” I’ll go with “You Know My Name” from Casino Royale.

ETA: *Pace *Prof. Pepperwinkle, “title song” then.

It’s a tie between “Goldfinger” and “Skyfall”.

A View To A Kill, followed by Live and Let Die.

Another “Goldfinger”, but if that’s off the table then “Diamonds Are Forever”.

If Shirley is off the table, then “All the Time in the World” by Louis Armstrong (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service).

Runners up include “You Only Live Twice” and “Skyfall”.

Weird coincidence: “Live and Let Die” was on the radio when I opened this thread.

What the Prof. said. One of my Road to the Show players is a closer named James Bond. Wears #7 and that’s his entrance music.

Goldfinger

During the last Academy Awards ceremony was admittedly the first time I’d ever heard the song. I was blown away by the lady singing it. Hokey and theatrical as it seems today, I was moved by how perfectly fitting her inflections and dramatic artistry were to the lyrics, and purpose of the song.

It was also a big AHA! moment, as I immediately recognized the tune as being used by Homer Simpson AKA Max Power.

Dr_Doom:

It would only be an AHA moment if it was the theme song to the Living Daylights that you heard.

My favorite is Diamonds Are Forever. Haunting.

You Only Live Twice

Why would this be the case?

Max Power

Goldfinger

Am I missing something?

Yep, with On Her Majesty’s Secret Service close behind for me.

  1. Live and Let Die
  2. Nobody Does it Better
  3. Goldfinger

LALD @ the 2005 Superbowl (nice firework display)

So many good ones, it’s ridiculously hard for me to pick. Goldfinger, is in my opinion, only maybe 4th or 5th best.

Nobody Does It Better
You Only Live Twice
Skyfall
Diamonds Are Forever
From Russia With Love
Thunderball

I love all of those, and several more but those are probably my top faves (including Goldfinger).

Goldfinger is the Jamesbondiest theme song.

Thunderball, Skyfall and Diamonds Are Forever are also pretty Jamesbondy. So is the theme to On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, but that’s cheating because it’s an instrumental.

As pop songs, Live And Let Die, We Have All The Time In The World and Nobody Does It Better are probably better.

The band named a-ha sung the theme to The Living Daylights.

I’m a big fan of Garbage’s theme for The World Is Not Enough.

I like almost all of them, and find it hard to choose. The only two I’m really “meh” about are “The Spy Who Loved Me” and “For Your Eyes Only”

No love for Tina Turner’s Goldeneye?

Probably because it was my first Bond movie, but I like the “For Your Eyes Only” song

The OP is actually asking for favorite James Bond MOVIE themes. You are correct that that link is to the James Bond Himself theme that usually shows up at some point in all the movies.

My fav movie theme is You Only Live Twice. This version with the violin opening.

Here’s a coolvideo medley of all of them.
