“These colors don’t run…the world.”
My favorite, seen at the 1/18 protest in DC:
WHY YOU GOTTA BE ALL VIOLENT?
These slogans aren’t that great, it’s the way they’re displayed that made me chuckle. I live near a well known local sex shop. As I walked past the other day I noticed the new display in their window. A collection of dildos in various sizes and colors carrying protest signs saying “More dick, less Cheney” and “Don’t hate, masturbate”.
“The only good wars are the Star Wars”
Pictures of Rumsfeld, Ashcroft, and Bush, with the respective slogans:
WAR IS PEACE
FREEDOM IS SLAVERY
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH
I have seen a handful of signs bearing a large Mercedes logo (presumably in place of the Peace sign). I’m guessing that it wasn’t done intentionally.
the only thing worse that a conservative texan,is a conservative texan with the U.S arsenal at his command and hell bent for more oil.
I wonder if he knew that Orwell wrote 1984 as a warning about the left.
I like “Regime Change Begins At Home!”
(Oh, and on Shirley Ujest’s “Give Peas a Chance” front, I once spotted a bumper sticker that read, “Visualize Whirled Peas.”)
“Bush, Blair, CIA, How Many Kids Have You Killed Today?”
“Who let the bombs out? Bush! Blair! Sharon”
“Who’s a terrorist? Bush is a terrorist! Who’s a terrorist? Sharon is a terrorist!” etc etc
“We all live in a facist regime, a facist regime, a facist regime” (to the tune of yellow submarine!)
Demonstration in Hyde Park, London, 2/15. I saved the Yahoo page with the picture. It was a joke, but if he meant it as a joke, probably not the same one.
I have that bumper sticker.
Got a cite?
Even though the party in 1984 was socialist, Orwell was one as well. I always interpreted those facts as meaning that 1984 was a warning against totalitarianism in all its forms, including, but not limited to, the possibility of socialism begetting a totalitarian state.
Actually, during Vietnam, the quote was “Fighting for peace is like screwing for virginity.”
I guess with a dumbing down and deskilling of the population, one has to use more graphic word these days to achieve the same response.
“yee-haw” does not constitute intelligent foreign policy
