I’m going to engage in some mild rabble-rousing tomorrow (2 pm, Federal Plaza in Chicago; be there or be square!) and am tired of standing around like a moron at these demos sheepishly yelling stuff at random moments, so I’ve decided to make a sign finally. I’m now the proud owner of 2 pc. of posterboard, a set of markers, a signpost, and duct tape…
so what should I put on the sign? Graphic image suggestions? Slogan suggestions? This current peace movement is remarkably lacking in catchy, brief slogans with impact, so until my buddy the poet cococts some, I’m struggling for inspiration. I was thinking of maybe doing a sign with “Peace” in a bunch of languages. Spanish, French, and Russian are taken care of, so along with your suggestions, please post translations of the word “Peace” in any languages you happen to know (and preferably in any font supported by this board software, if the language is one not written in Roman letters). Extra points for really obscure languages! (Sanskrit, anyone?)
Weirddave and **SpaceGhost, ** you have just provided additional inspiration for the duct tape. If you aren’t going to be constructive in addressing the O.P., kindly go away and start your own thread. I hear GD is chock-full of discussion on appeasement, etc. Extra bonus: it’s the proper forum for debating. Obviously, I disagree with your viewpoints and didn’t start this thread to hear you kvetch.
To the others: thanks for your support and ideas, and I’ll keep y’all posted.
May I point out that the Allies have now officially lost World War 2. Japan dominates East Asia economically, Germany dominates Europe economically and politically, the Soviet Union has fallen, and the US and UK have little influence and essentially no allies.
War didn’t solve the world’s problems - it just replaced them with different problems.
