Your favorite Coen brothers movie

I picked Blood Simple but it was close between that and Miller’s Crossing. I also loved No Country For Old Men.

The comedies are mostly very entertaining and worth a watch when they come on tv, but not my favorite. I hated Barton Fink (though my BF loves it).

Almost made this decision for the same reason, but enjoyed Fargo just a bit more.

I couldn’t choose.

It was a tie between Fargo, No Country For Old Men and Burn After Reading.

The Ladykillers and O Brother, Where Art Thou are tied for second place.

True Grit only recently came out and I like to give movies a while to settle in my mind before deciding just how much I like them (because I tend to think “best movie ever!” whenever I come out of seeing a movie that I really like for the first time - and I really like True Grit).

These guys are amazing. It really speaks to how great they are when so many of their films occupy my top 20 or whatever.

Just don’t tell me you prefer Fop to Dapper Dan.

I voted for No Country, but in retrospect, I think I should have chosen O, Brother.

And, at the risk of being chased out of here by a pitchfork-n-torch carrying mob, I couldn’t stand The Big Lebowski.

You have to watch Lebowski like 3 or 4 times before it starts to sink in.

The Man Who Wasn’t There and Barton Fink left me cold. I like - or love - most of the others I’ve seen, though.

“I don’t want Fargo, goddammit, I’m an O Brother, Where Art Thou man!”

BLOOD SIMPLE was a bit too vicious for me; I could admire it but not enjoy it.

I am one of those that love *The Hudsucker Proxy *but O Brother, Where Art Thou? would be my second choice.

I actually don’t like Fargo, Raising Arizona & Barton Fink. So their movies are very hit or miss for me.

What was the point? I just watched it, and it rather confused me. Was the point (/moral) that you shouldn’t let trouble in life bring you to dishonesty? What was the role of the demon rabbi?

I’ll admit I wasn’t impressed but it’s on Netflix Streaming, so I’ll give it another chance.

Until then: O Brother. For the music.

Overall, I think I have to go with Fargo, for the perfect balance of mainstream appeal and Coen Brothers quirk.

After that, Raising Arizona, Miller’s Crossing, The Big Lebowski, and Barton Fink. I enjoyed O Brother, but it’s a middle-of-the-pack Coen Brothers movie for me. I’m honestly a little surprised at how well it does in these sorts of polls.

Very tough call, but in the end, the Dude abides.

I’ve seen everyone of their films. Picking between Raising Arizona and The Big Lebowski was almost painful, but I ultimately chose TBL. Just please don’t make me have to choose again!

The Dude Abides, so The Big Lebowski it is. O Brother, Miller’s Crossing, Burn After Reading, and The Man Who Wasn’t There are all excellent, too- but ultimately, I keep coming back to The Big Lebowski.

The Big L for me, but most of the others qualify for a close second.

The Dude abides.

My sentiments exactly.

Great acting, great cinematography, snappy dialogue, and all sorts of interesting nuances I found on multiple viewings.

After this, other favorites are Big Lewbowski (this one started out lesser, but grew on me after multiple viewings), O Brother, and Raising Arizona.

Only one on the list I haven’t seen yet is True Grit.

Yehh?.. well, that’s just like, your opinion, man.
