One of my favorite is James Surowiecki, who writes the financial page for the New Yorker.
I have more, but I have to head out now, so I’ll name them later on.
Who are your favorites?

Roger Ebert
Christopher Hitchens
Maureen Dowd.
I don’t always agree with her, but her reporting is pretty great. Sometimes she phones it in, but she’s been particularly succinct in her gripes with Obama and his administration. I like when she interviews Google or Twitter people. I think she’s incredibly relevant, even to someone my generation.
Gail Collins.
Love her books. Love her witty irreverence. I’ve lost (some) respect for her over the past 18 months; she feels like a party hack at times. She’s at her best when she pretends she doesn’t care about what’s going on politically and pokes fun at everyone. Serious Gail is not fun.
I like the Freakonomics bloggers/writers/authors. People rail on them because of the abortion views all the time, but it’s not that crazy.
For apolitical stuff, you can’t beat The Pioneer Woman. Recipes, pictures, you gotta read her love story. Makes you slow down a bit.
For sports, I like Gregg Easterbrook. Sometimes a little too nerdy, he’s almost always a refreshing step away from the “he just loves to play the game!” sportswriters.
Dan Savage, for, well…Savage Love. And kicking the shit out of people who need it in print. I like that.
ETA: Dio got the one person I was missing. Hitchens. In Slate and in Vanity Fair.
I don’t watch a lot of TV shows, but I enjoy Heather Havrilesky’s TV columns in Salon even if I never heard of a particular show. They range from deep to snarky. She just wrote a choice one about some yakking Real Housewives that had me weeping with laughter. ‘Whoring sea donkeys’, indeed!
Lenore Skenazy.
Free Range Kids.
"Do you ever…let your kid ride a bike to the library? Walk to school? Make dinner? Or are you thinking about it? If so, you are raising a Free-Range Kid! Free-Rangers believe in helmets, car seats, seat belts — safety! We just do NOT believe that every time school age kids go outside, they need a security detail. "
John Scalzi. I even have a trade paperback of some of his blog entries.
