BTW, FWIW, I make my gumbo with chicken, shrimp, okra (food of the Gods) AND a roux. There are never any leftovers. Woo hoo!

Wow. I must’ve missed this one back in the day…I know what come back sauce is, and I got the “Joy” reference…my mom didn’t call it “The Yankee Cookbook” for nothing! (She loved it anyway).
