To pick a new one–In Brughes.
The Wrong Box
With
Very obscure movie with very dark British humor. (More than 10 people die even before the main characters are introduced)
Favorite bit to me is when the criminal and absentminded doctor played by Peter Sellers is asked to fill a false death certificate.
Clue.
If you can call it a “dark” comedy. Gotta love that ending.
In that same vein, I really liked “Little Shop of Horrors” the musical.

That’s a mere frippery comapred to Man Bites Dog.

Oh man, yes, masterpiece. And of course* Miami Blues*–“Bray-king-and—en-ter-ing”

Would The Producers (both versions) be considered a dark comedy or is it too broad?
[/QUOTE]
Way too broad.
Saw a new one last night: Married Life (hm, not that new, it’s got an '07 copyright). It’s not a rollicking rib-tickler, but I laughed out loud a whole bunch of times.

Has anybody seen Sam Lowry?

Dead Like Me. I sure wish more than two seasons had been made.

Clay Pigeons is a great, underrated dark comedy with Joaquin Phoenix, Vince Vaughn, and Janeane Garofalo. You can watch it for free at Hulu.com.
Black Books
Scorsese’s After Hours. Ever so '80s!
Baxter. I don’t know if it’s actually good or not in the pantheon of black comedies, but it sure is enjoyably weird.
If you want to go a lot further back, not to a movie but a play, try Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure.
How To Get Ahead in Advertising. I think that was the title. British. Another one was, jeez, can’t remember the actual name: Wainright and Me? Wicken and Me? Waltrout and Me? Someone will know, I’m sure.
Any film featuring an E-Type Jaguar converted into a hearse gets my vote.

Harold and Maude.

Thank you. 33 posts and nobody mentions this. The mind boggles.

yea.
Consuming Passions. (Screenplay by Michael Palin and Terry Jones.)
Shallow Grave - a British film that’s so over the top you can’t take it seriously. Unexplained bodies, unexplained money, paranoid roommates, and a good dose of “wacky roommate” humor.
The Trouble With Harry with a young John Forsythe, and a younger Shirley MacLaine. Funny black comedy from Hitchcock.
