Going back to TR, I’ve read a couple of bios and seen a couple of documentaries, and I still don’t know how I feel about him. Yes he established the national parks and he busted some trusts and spoke out for the working man, but he was also a racist and a warmonger. Do I forgive him for not being progressive enough, the way I forgive Jefferson for opposing slavery while not freeing his slaves?

In the same vein, when the Mueller Report was released and revealed that the Donald Trump campaign didn’t collude with the Russians, and that Donald Trump didn’t commit obstruction of justice.

He was about average for his time, actually. He didnt actually have any wars while president, and he helped end the Russo-Japanese War.

TR was certainly a warmonger but he was pretty progressive on racial issues for his era.
