Your favorite musical.

I’m not a big fan of Kismet, but *The King and I *does deserve some love.

Way too many to list, all for different reasons or particular productions.

The one I will mention because it is my hands-down favorite that I have seen in the last 5 years, although sadly I only saw the filmed version of the stage show, is Passing Strange. I’ve pushed this on nearly everyone I know who loves theatre of any sort and they love it too. One of the best examples of what a stage production can do that a film cannot. I’ve seen it several times (it is available on Netflix streaming) and it gets me every time.

I don’t think I can narrow it down beyond these three:
Kiss Me, Kate - what lyrics! And the dancing in the film version…
West Side Story - incredible music
Sunday in the Park with George - incredible concept and execution. And I’m a Mandy Patinkin fanboy.

Most of the rest of Sondheim’s ouevre and Guys and Dolls are close behind. Oh and Carousel. And Chess. And… eh, it’s hopeless trying to narrow it down.
