Your favorite non-mainstream soda

It goes quite good with gin as well - sort of like a super-lemony tonic water.

Canada Dry makes a credible version as well, although it’s just about as hard to find.

Oh, and Spec’s Liquor and Fine Foods in Houston (the huge downtown one) has Leninade also.

Mello Yello!
I know it’s made by a mainstream company, but it’s impossible to find in Arizona. We have to get family in Minnesota to ship it to us. So frustrating!

I came here to mention GUS cola, which I just tried this week, and Dr. Brown’s Cel-Ray Tonic, which I can’t get in Colorado, unfortunately.

Irn-Bru is mainstream, but only in Scotland, where it’s made. From girders!

Irn Bru, a neon orange creamy soda-type drink from Scotland. I drink the diet version, but the full blooded stuff partly explains the dire condition of Scots teeth I think! You can get it in some supermarkets here in Australia.

West’s Cordials were a local brand where I grew up. Amongst the standard, they made two unique and delicious flavours - chocolade, and pineapple & pear.

I miss them.

The best I’ve had is a root beer made in Minnisota, but is, for some reason, sold at a steakhouse here.

I can’t name it for fear of revealing my identity.

I love the Izze drinks!

I’m also here to speak up for Ramune. It’s so much fun. I get it at World Market… it’s delish.

South Indian Ginger Pop (can’t find a picture). It looks innocent enough, but it’s practically fire in a bottle! - Much, much stronger (and better) than any ginger beer I’ve ever had.

Jones Green Apple or Cream sodas.

Squirt is a grapefruit juice flavored soft drink-used to be common in Massachusetts. I can’t find it now-anyone know where it is sold?

ralph124c – thanks for reminding me; I also immensely enjoy Wink, which is another grapefruit soda. It’s hard to find – I actually ordered it online…my wife says she used to drink it all the time at her grandmother’s house in New Jersey, but it just disappeared. One day when we were in Jewel, probably about 12 years ago, she saw 50/50 and was convinced it was Wink under a different name.

In the Caribbean, Ting (very much like Squirt or Wink) is popular. It is bottled on an island…maybe Trinidad?

I get those plastic lemons from the supermarket and squirt it into a shot glass.

Squirt is a pretty common soda here in the southwest. Arizona, in particular. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone actually drinking it (I love it), but you can find it at almost any convenience store here.

Squirt is all over the upper Midwest here… always see it in stores…

Many a summer day was wasted riding our bikes to the gas station to buy some Vess.

Jeff’s Orange Dream soda.

I buy it at Target (on Long Island), actually. I only drink it in the summer for some reason.

I can’t believe no one likes this one: Delaware Punch.

Supposedly removed from America because the dyes caused health problems, I have not seen it for at least 20 years…but the taste still sits in my noggin.

I liked Double Cola. It tasted like a slightly bitter RC to me. Is it still sold anywhere?
