I remember that flavor. For some reason, it smelled like dirty dishwater, but it tasted pretty good.
I miss baked ramen and Carnation Breakfast Bars.

Can’t think of anything offhand, but several have mentioned candy bars which I recently read about in a book called Candyfreak by Steve Almond. Interesting nostalgia and factory tour descriptions.
Common Tater: thanks for the link; I’ve ordered some Quisp to see if it’s as good as I remember. Cap’n Crunch cuts my mouth, too.
Another cereal I miss is Fortified Oat Flakes.
I haven’t seen Grape Nuts O’s for a few years.
Marathon are alive and well, known now as “Snickers”
I miss “Spangles” hard as hell boiled sweets of various flavours
Laffy Taffy is still around. My kids love it.

[li]Raisin bars - thin pastry crust at the top and bottom, sandwiching a pureed raisin filling. I miss those.[/li][li]Bonomo Turkish Taffy - they made it in three flavors, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. The ad slogan was “Bonomo Turkish Taffy tastes like ice cream”[/li][li]Coca-Cola made a citrusy cola-like soda called O.K. I loved it when it was available, but it didn’t last long.[/li][/ul]
Marathon and Snickers are not the same at all (or are you just kidding?)They were similar in flavor to Milky Ways I guess, but their unique shape made them more, I dunno, “fun” to eat.
I miss American Fries. They were vaguely french fry shaped potato crisps and they were yummy, especially with a peanut butter sandwich. I remember they came in a blue box with a picture of George Washington on the front, though I can’t for the life of me remember what the tie in was between a snack food and the American Revolution. Perhaps they were part of the whole bicentennial celebration, though it seems like they were on the market before '76.
Oh, and thank * you* , ** Johnny L.A. ** for infecting my brain with the Freakies’ song
" . . we never miss a meal 'cause we lover our cereeeeeeal" :smack:
I think the UK version of Snickers is very different than the US version. Probably the same for Marathon.
Forever Yours Bars are marketed around here under the name Milky Way Midnite.
I miss Nestle’s Triple Decker Bar–a layer of dark choloate, a layer of white chocolate and a layer of milk chocolate all in one candy bar.
I had these chocolate bars back in Stratford, Ontario, when I was a kid, and I can’t remember what they were called (and it’s driving me crazy!), but you could not put them down. I’m dead serious. Made of pure crack, I’m telling you.
Space Food Sticks
Campbell’s Golden Cream of Mushroom Soup (not regular, it was golden). That stuff made the best gravy for pork chops…
DING DING DING!!!
We have a winner!
Proceed to the bonus round where you will be playing for…
Rice a Roni! The San Fransicso treat!
(I know they still make it, but which game show had it for the consolation prize?)
Check your local health food type stores. Annie’s Naturals has a cheese version.
Campbell’s Meatball Alphabet Soup. I ate gallons of the stuff as a kid, but I haven’t seen it in years.
They make Jell-O Pudding Pops again? I must have some immediately!
Foldup Rabbit and El Perro Fumando,
To satisfy your Orbitz jonesing, try Capsela! Same futuristic Jetson look but only one flavor, lemon. Yes, it tastes like real lemon, too, not that chemically-bleah flavor Orbitz used.
PS-Sorry about the Japanese-only website.
Powerhouse Candy bars were advertised as a quarter pound. Thats why I chose them over 3 Musketeers.
I bought some Harry Potter Exploding bon-bons a few weeks ago (at Super Target, I think) to put in my son’s birthday party goody bags. It turns out that they are Zotz, under the merchandizing name du jour. I tried to find an online reference for them, but haven’t managed to find a link. I imagine that they’ll be becoming easier to find in the next month or so when the book and the movie come out.
As for the Marathon/Snickers confusion ---- In the US, the Marathon bar was around probably in the 70’s or so, in a red wrapper with yellow writing. It was a braided choclate covered caramel bar, very similar to the Curly wurly.
When I was in the UK in the mid-80’s, they had a candy bar called a Marathon that was, essentially a Snickers — even down to the color scheme on the wrapper. At some point, they renamed it to become a Snickers. And now Snickers is marketing a pseudo-energy bar and calling it a Marathon, just to increase the name confusion.
Auntie Pam: I’m a big Mallo cup fan, too. Occasionally I still find them around here ---- mainly in convenience stores.
I miss Jello 1-2-3. We had it for dessert on Sunday afternoons, in wine goblets so it was real fancy! Seeing how much I like plain old Jello now (not!), maybe it’s just as well relegated to the nostalgia bin in my mind.
fruit burple! the kool-aid like drink in a collapsable accordion bottle (think like the bendy part of a straw)
and i’ll always miss classic mcdonalds fries… with the tallow in the grease and tons of salt…
