Your favorite one hit wonder

Billy Thorpe - Children of the Sun

I liked their “Blue Sky Mine” even more. It did get some airplay in the US, but I don’t know if it was a bona fide hit here.

I’m not sure exactly what qualifies someone as a one-hit wonder, but I’m going to say Johnny Nash with his song "I Can See Clearly Now. Although he did have a few other top 40 hits, only the aforementioned was a number one hit, and it was at the top of the US pop charts for for weeks in 1972.

Might I also add that this was the first song I ever truly loved. All of nine years old I was, and I still remember how wonderful it was the hear that song on the radio. Happily, it still sounds as beautiful today!

She’s HUGE in Canada. She’s had 17 top ten singles and has won 8 Junos (Canadian Grammys) and been nominated 19 times. So even though I know it doesn’t count since this is an American one hit wonder thread, I just thought I’d point out that she’s well loved here!

Jesse - Joshua Kadison

I don’t know if “One Night in Bangkok” fits since it came from a musical (Chess) and not a group. But it’s one of my favorites.
