Texas.
Simply perfect (though the Alamo would have also been acceptable)

A design based on this photo (which, despite the URL, does not show “Henry Ford, Jr.”, as Henry and Clara had only one child, Edsel)?
I went with a quarter that does feature transportation – Utah’s “Pending Trainwreck”.
My home state of Ohio had a great theme but I don’t like the quarter. I like California and Nevada as designs because they took into consideration it was a stamped image. Very nice job.
After looking at all the coins with buffalo and cattle I think they need more cow bells.
Michigan State Quarter? Hmmmmmm
Maybe 11 million people wondering why Columbus, Ohio takes collegiate athletics so seriously? No, that wouldn’t fit on a quarter.
Maybe an image of an outstretched palm in honor of what you guys do when you want to show where your town is? No, too silly.
If only there were something associated with Michigan that changed human life forever. Something invented and developed there that became such a part of the American (and global) conscienceness it is impossible to imagine modern society without it.
I know! The Helmac lint removal tool made in Flint!
Alaska’s the best since not only does it have a distinct image that just screams “Alaska”, but you know someone had to fight for an image that depicts one animal killing another. You can just imagine the design committe saying, “Screw it, we’re Alaskans, this is who we are”. So many other look like committes throwing in so many symbols to appease people that no image stands out.
Wish you’d given the territories and DC as options too. Anyone who puts Duke Ellington on their quarter (DC) is alright by me, and the territories have excellent evocative designs.
Plus it’s a huge disappointment that West Virginia, as claimed in the article in the OP, didn’t put Mothman on their quarter. Everyone would respect a state with this on its quarter.
It works well with the landscape below and the phrase “Big Sky Country”.
“Come enjoy our wide open skies… and the looming specter of the Bovine Grim Reaper gazing down upon you!”
I went with the Connecticut bandwagon, as I’ve liked that design ever since it came out. It has an overall unity which too many states missed out on with “kitchen sink” designs (like South Carolina, to me the biggest disappointment of the state quarters given how much I like the state’s flag). At the same time, Connecticut’s design has a nice intricacy and detail to it.
I was also really tempted to go with Kansas or North Dakota–I guess those states wound up splitting the bison vote–or Montana. The bison’s a good, all-American motif, with a long numismatic history in this country, and both states had enough sense to basically stick with one thing and do it well. And Montana’s skull is just badass. I agree with Giles that Idaho just misses the mark; it’s a strong design, but they didn’t really need the state map (the biggest cliche of state quarter designs).
I also picked Texas. Simple and powerful. Too bad the license plates are too cluttered
Nevada’s doesn’t mention gambling nor prostitution. What’s up with that?
Tennessee.
When a friend of mine was getting married, before the Michigan quarter design had been selected, his sister was saying that she wanted everyone to vote for a design like that. The left hand pointing to the palm of the right hand. She thought that would be hilarious.
An unemployment line?
To me it has always looked like some unfortunate animal got run over and all it’s guts got squooshed out in different directions.
Ugh.
For me it’s a toss up between Vermont with the maple trees or Maine and the lighthouse. Connecticut is a favorite as well. I think it was a very well done program and the art work is highly detailed for such a small engraving.
I like the race car on the Indiana one. I don’t like racing, but when I see the car, I wanna make the quarter go vroom vroom vroom around a table.
Credit card interest rates?
Joe Biden?
Happy corporate executives?
My favorite is Connecticut.
I picked Wisconsin… has anyone here ever been to Wisconsin?
What, no Washington, D.C.? Duke Ellington? Come ON!!!
Another Connecticut voter. I love how the tree takes up whole sie of the coin, just about. I have more than $50 worth of these coins. I love them!
