Your favorite state quarter!

Obligatory Link To Designs, for the numismatists out there.

I have very personal reasons for the Idaho Peregrine Falcon one.

Here’s hoping I can do 50 poll choices, if not we’ll do it the old-fashioned way.

Poll is public.

My favorites are Arizona and Kentucky. Nice layout that captures multiple iconic representations of the state.

The worst, by far, is Michigan. Some other are boring, but this one’s boring AND dumb. The Great Lakes, including the one that doesn’t even border the state? They really couldn’t think of better than that?

There are too many state maps, and too many cluttered designs. My preference is for that of Connecticut: one item in the design, which neatly fills the side of the coin. (But Idaho is nice, too, though it would have been better if they’d dropped the map and just had the peregrine falcoln.)

Texas. Nice and simple.

I don’t think I have a particular favorite.

My second-least favorite is Connecticut, with their lame-ass tree.

Worst design is Montana’s dead cow skull.

I just voted for Connecticut. I like that tree.

Runners up; Utah, Colorado, Missouri.

On the list for least favorite: Wisconsin, Ohio, Texas.

I feel bad for New Hampshire - their landmark broke after the quarter came out.

My favorites:

Maine
California
Washington
Alaska

Whichever one has a tree on it, I think Connecticut.

Mississippi. I like the magnolia blossoms.

Favorite: Massachusetts. I like the Minuteman

Least: Maryland. The bottom of the dome should be round.

Strangest: Nevada’s quarter not having a gambling reference. It seems so obvious, especially on a piece of currency. Like having a Neil Armstrong interview “No questions about the moon, please”

My favorite would have been Washington’s, if they had gone with the cool Native American Orca design that won the public voting. Instead, they went with the cluttered mess you see before you…

New Hampshire. It’s a giant rock-face! And he wants me to live free or meet an untimely death! Much better than plants or birds with their forgettable mottoes.

ETA: The Native American orca design for WA would have been awesome!

The sad thing is, they let us vote. Five designs to choose from. But they were all basically the same, with the lakes.

I picked Delaware, because I like the historical bit. When I first heard about the state quarter program,I thought for sure I knew what ours (Michigans) was gonna be. What the hell else could it be?I figured it was a no-brainer.It really sucks.

Any guesses as to what I thought it would show?

Gotta go with my home state, California. What’s not to like about John Muir, Half Dome, and a large bird that eats dead things?

I picked Florida because it reminds me of the Civilization II Gold Edition box.

I’ll say New Mexico - I just happen to like the sun symbol (and NM gets little enough respect as it is). California’s is okay, but just a bit too politically correct.

Kirkland’s Warbler?

If anyone votes for Louisiana, I’ll probably shoot myself.

Rhode Island – that’s a nifty looking boat!
I also like Kentucky (that’s a nifty looking horse!) and Alaska (cool bear!).

Tennessee has got to be the worst. It’s just gaudy. Honorable mention goes to every design which is primarily just a drawing of the state’s boundaries. “Yep, that’s New York alright. Good job.”
