Your first furniture in the MMP

I did this at dinner with my 3 bridesmaids. So not only were my 3 closest friends witness to my wardrobe malfunction, but one of them even sent me a greeting card about it. Hallmark really does have a card for every occasion.

When I first got married, I loved going there. Didn’t know what to do with half the kitchen tools, but somehow some of it came home with me. I think we may still have a can opener from there.

Both hubby and I got our hair cut this morning, then I hit up two different grocery stores to get what I needed. Had salmon for lunch, which I baked in the oven. Since it was already warm in the kitchen, I made two carrot loafs, plus I baked one tray’s worth of cookies. I’ve been keeping the sliding door to the kitchen closed, and it’s doing a good job of keeping the heat in the kitchen (and outside).

We’ve been really lucky that there’s not many mosquitos, but it seems that we’ve exchanged them for flies, even when we don’t have any food.

My neighbor has a little birdbath on a spike, and I mentioned to hubby I would like to get one and put it in the middle of the grassy area. We can watch the birds and hopefully it will be easy to move when we want to mow. Except there are two cats that go through our yard often. Years ago we saw a different cat kill one of the birds. Do not like.

Not as chaotic a Saturday as usual. Which was nice. I mean K, the slow and disorganized clerk was slow and disorganized. Which makes my CDO was to exit my body and start biting, but other than that… I had a bit of fun getting home, the Corolla in front of me didn’t move at the left turn signal till I beeped. Hes was also going 5 under, and weaving every once and a while, so I went the long way when they turned on my usal route. My building hit a tree at some point today.

Doesn’t look like ti did any damage, but I ain’t filling Onan’s feeder today. I called Maintenance at noon when I got home, apparently nobody else noticed. I assume they are waiting on The Tree People(related to The Invisible Mole People?) to show up. Anyways, laundry is going, I got Interwebs, bacon, eggs, and a gin&tonic, so it’s all good.

We may have to change his name to “Sergeant Slaughter”

“There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.” - Will Rogers.
But you’re having quote the week at St. Pats.

Duuuuuuuddddeeeeeee. Hope it helps.

Yeah, you can’t eat a clean conscious.

Heavy from the guilt of the Naugas killed for their hydes
for the couch.

So say we all.

I updated my insurance from the new job at CVS. About four and a half months of my prescription would have cost $430. With the insurance, it was $30.

I went to the credit union after getting the Prius’s oil changed, and I’ve just transferred money to where it needed to go. I also remembered to put money into my ‘taxes and insurance’ sub-account. It took an hour to get the oil changed, as there was a car already in the bay. They forgot to reset the ‘oil maintenance required soon’ display that takes up half of the display area. The girl reset it, and now I can do it myself.

Showered, and thinking about having a bite of lunch.

Write the names of various restaurants on slips of paper and put them in a jar. When they ask you to pick - you can literally pick one. No decision necessary - just luck! You’re welcome.

I seem to recall some eons ago that we tentatively discussed meeting for lunch some day. We can give it a try if our schedules will sync up, if you’re still inclined. Or you can come for an afternoon afloat if you don’t mind driving to Solomons. Or some other option. Or not. Whatevs - I’m cool however it goes.

Is there something outside maybe? Or attic space with a light? Maybe you’re flicking the light of a neighbor’s house. Or elsewhere

We got some boat chores done - FCD installed the new tool box and I put the snaps on the forward hatch and cover. Then I figured out what I have to do to the curtain for the forward head. We talked to some folks from farther down our dock then I walked Otis. We drove home thru an almost blinding rain to find it was bone dry at the house.

We’re in chill mode now and I need to think about what to make for supper. Or if we should go out. Or order delivery. Or eat cereal. I need the decision jar.

Is there anybody here who isn’t familiar with “Dogs in Elk”?

… and Tiw.

Welp, no meeting tonight for Mollie. I had just finished making a shitload of Cheesy Sausage Drop Biscuits (the perfect thing for a potluck), and was jumping into my car to grab something from the store, and got the dreaded “Check Electrical System” message. The only place that car will go next is the dealer.

More Saxon gods than Norse. We really only remember the Norse ones because the Icelanders wrote their stories down.

Can you Lyft or Uber to the meeting? Perhaps getting a lift home will be easy once you get there.

I sure you get to go because you were so looking forward to you and those biscuits sound amazing, I’d hate for your fellow meeting-goers to miss out on them.

I’m much too much of a chicken to get a Lyft while presenting.

Squeaky will just be eating well for a while.

I was kinda expecting this issueeventually, but not the day my wife leaves to take our youngest on a two week college tour road trip.

It’s a good idea, but they already have a tutu skirt each (well, the tiny one doesn’t yet)… Between grandparents and hand-me-downs from their cousins, they have far more clothes than I do. I don’t have any tutus at all :frowning:

I’ll have a look round the local toyshop tomorrow, see what they have.

Back in my motel room awaiting World Cup kickoff. Got 6+ hours of rides and walking done, along with various foodstuffs that probably cost way more than they should (I am becoming fond of Dipping Dots in my dotage, have never tried them before now). Also find I prefer coasters that give me free leg space rather than cooped up with a floor, the old up-and-down coasters of my youth are too violent for me to enjoy these days. Also rode something I call the seesaw from hell and a tower drop that I will try again. And I finished the day with the Dodgems, or as I call them, the bumper cars. Left with a smile on my face.

My plan is to take a break from the park on Sunday and see what else there is to do. There is a ferry to some other spots and a drive-thru wildlife preserve so maybe that will be an option. Monday I’ll buy a ‘Fast pass’ and revisit the rides I enjoyed the most. At least that’s the plan for now.

Have scanned all and yays, boos, hugs and grins to everyone. Game is on now so will be following that. Take care

Well, fill me in, folks. There’s a big hole in my knowledge about ancient gods and their spots in history.

I was nodding off while doing a crossword puzzle when an electrifying yowl woke me up. The radio was playing WVPE’s Blues Review, and the band was Mississippi Heat. The singer, who I first mistook for Janis Joplin, is Sheryl Youngblood. I’m not a believer in reincarnation, but the vocal resemblance was so strong that I actually looked the dates. Nope. Youngblood was born in 1958, and Janis didn’t die until 1070. All the same, I ordered the CD, Don’t Look Back.

It’s rare that a band I hadn’t heard before zaps me that hard. “I recommend it to your attention,” as the riverboat captain in a long-ago beer commercial used to say.

Well I’m setting off into my first paid vacation ever. I don’t think I’m gonna do anything except sit on my ass, and maybe take the dog swimming, maybe a little swimming of my own. There might be some skinny dippin’. The back is killing me, I need the break.

Do they have a tea set? All of my nieces and great nieces absolutely loved having those for tea parties with their dollies.

Here are a few things that sound like fun.

Have a great vacation VanGo!

Other than cleaning the bathroom, I’ve only spent the day in the studio today. It’s been a rainy day and I really didn’t want to go out.

Howdy Y’all! Been home a while from funeralizin’ but needed to chillax for a while. The family was (were?) well-fed. The organizers of the lunch did a fantastic job. There was a good crowd on hand at the funeral. I had to go get some more wafers for the Priest to bless as there were more folk than planned for and most of ‘em took Communion. I refilled the candles (after they cooled down) and set the hymn board for tomorrow. Other Verger tells me she plans to be there tomorrow. Her husband did get discharged from the horsepistol. She says she plans to sleep a long time this evenin’ so she will be more than ready to go do church tomorrow.

MetalMouse glad you got to ride some roller coasters last night. Hope today has been a fun day!

JBats of course you didn’t take advantage. You are way too nice to do such a thing. If it’s any consolation here’s a :star: Heck, have another. :star:

Taters I say you deserve to take a break and see your sis.

FlyBoy how did the hot link in the toaster oven you had for breakfast taste? Just curious cause I like hot links but I have never had toaster oven.

Mollie I am happy to know that Chloè is concerned about Squeaky’s ear hygiene. Sorry you can’t go to your meetin’. Hope the vehicle woe is fixed soonest.

doggio as I said over on the book of faces, Spot will need a fifth of gin, a sedative and an anchovy and herring pizza to get over the trauma!

Every time you post a link I follow it and ever since you posted the nipple covers that’s what I get no matter what the link is. Today I looked where you said “Here (2) are a few things” and of course it was the same old nipple covers. Am I the only one with this problem?

Hey everyone, once again I’ve been reading and not typing. I continue to improve (still very crabby though) so typing will soon become pain free.

The past couple of days I’ve been doing a lot of texting because the old homestead came a quarter mile away from burning down. Poor TC friend was four blocks away and needed to get her pets out of the smoke, but power was also cut for over 8 hours (with triple digit heat) so was having problems finding somewhere to go.

Because I was online, I was able to find a place for her and talk to the desk person to explain why TC friend won’t have my credit card in her hand (fraud prevention, very common precaution). They gave me a smokin’ deal when they realized that they were going to housing a fire evacuatee and left bags of critter food in her room.

She’s home now and the cats are getting over the indignity of being stuffed into carriers and taken to a strange home with strange smells.

I hope you enjoy!

I hope you at least have a feather boa!

It’s not just you!

Lovely day today, weather started out sunny with temps at 51Ferrets, rising to a high of 78F and currently at 82F, so I guess the weather guessers were off by a little bit. Still very pleasant!

We’ll look forward to seeing them whenever you get the chance. I’m sorry you had to miss your meeting tonight. I know how much you were looking forward to it. The Cheesy Sausage Drop Biscuits sound pretty fabulous, though!

swampy, sounds like it was quite the wonderful sendoff for Glenda. Nicely done.

metal mouse, you seem to be having a great time! I’m delighted you haven’t developed an aversion or physical inhibition to coasters. Enjoy the rest of the trip!

Ye gods, 52! The situation with the pit bull would certainly enliven any morning! I’m glad your neighbor didn’t manage to shoot it, but having been in a similar situation myself and shooting over the head of one that threatened to attack me, I understand the impulse. Hope the brunch went well despite indecision regarding where to go.

Ugh! The card is especially hilarious, though. I’d have loved to have seen it.

That’s… unsettling. Looks like you’ve got a couple additional leaners, too. I live in a similar wooded situation, and there are few things more unnerving than a windy day, except the sound of a big tree hitting the ground during that windy day. I’m glad the damage was minimal and that Spot’s gin consumption continued relatively undisturbed. Good call on leaving Onan to fend for himself under the circumstances.

Van Gogh, enjoy the hell out of that vacation! Skinny dipping cures many ills, so perhaps your back will be better soon, too.

No, you’re not. red, maybe clear your cookies from Amazon? :grimacing: Hope it helps!

That’s a bit too much excitement from the old stomping grounds! How great of you to help TC friend find accommodation, but I’d expect nothing less. Good the situation has passed now. Stay crabby and be an example for us all.

Started the day with a bun sighting, so I knew it was going to be a good one.

Today was the day of making/sharing avocado chocolate mousse to give to my friends for dessert at our lunch today. I will forthrightly admit, I was nervous about it. But it was good!! I mean really, really good! I would characterize it less as a mousse and more as a pudding, but I’d put it up against any chocolate pudding I’ve ever had, and I bet it would hold its own. I’ll make it again. A nice way to work some nutrition into what is usually a naughty dessert. I served it with fresh raspberries and some fresh whipped cream. Memorably delicious!

Ollie had a fun romp with his buddy Iris and my friends and I caught up with each other. They’re both suffering from some health issues, so I was glad to get updates on their situations. Things are proceeding apace for each and health worries will hopefully be resolved soon.

Now home and enjoying some feet-up time as we close in on Ollie’s dinner time. I don’t think I’ll want dinner tonight, but if I do, there’s leftover pasta and chicken with pesto cream sauce. That’ll do.

I’m still watching various series in French, will finish another tonight called The Intern. The stories are a bit repetitive, but it’s fascinating to learn about the French legal system and the characters are engaging and sweet.

Hope everyone enjoys their evening!

I said screw it. If I can’t go to the meeting all dolled up, I can stay home and still get all dolled up.
