Your first furniture in the MMP

Those instructions are great for any wound, surgical or not, sutures or not, even just a scape on a knee or elbow falling off your bike

Why more doctors don’t give better, written aftercare take home information I will never understand. Shoot, they could xerox that sheet and hand it out, perhaps needing to pay a few cents to the association.

SMH~and docs wonder why we mere mortal patients are ‘noncompliant’.

What a fine rest-of-the-day!

I spotted a new bun today hanging out on my driveway. I don’t know why it delights me so much to know I have a few bunnies that call this place home, but it does. Glad you could get a pic of yours!

Looks like a great place! I love the honey I can buy here, but it has gotten crazy expensive. Fortunately, I don’t use much of it, and a quart lasts for a few years. And I still have another quart in reserve. I don’t like to think what it will cost when I’m 90 and need another jar!

I know just what you mean. I lost a neighbor in a similar way, and it took me longer to get over her death than her husband – who married again 6 months to the day later. How’s Harry doing, anyway?

Mollie, this is excellent advice from JtC! The most important part is, keep your knees together. When you master that, all else will follow.

I agree. They’d have my business, that’s sure.

So today was a banner day for wildlife sightings! As mentioned, I spotted a new bun on my driveway today. There was also the either very large bobcat or rather small cougar that jumped across the road just before I pulled into my driveway. Those guys move quick, so I wasn’t quite sure which.

Then I managed to snag a couple decent photos of Ollie for those who’ve been waiting for them, below:

And to me, the best thing of all was spotting this barn owl taking 5 on a fence post:

Imgur

I hear them seldom and see them rarely, so I was tickled to catch this one. The photo was taken looking out the window over my kitchen sink. I think it was hunting mice. Go, Ms. Owl!

Just after I uploaded this shot, I let Ollie out for a constitutional and spied the owl again in a tree branch. Couldn’t get to the camera to catch another shot, though. But if I keep seeing it, I’ll try to get a few more photos.

Ok, I’ve bent everyone’s ears enough for one day.

I did so much after work I felt like FCM. Grocery store, mow the lawn, inflate the new herding ball for Ms Peach (that lasted all of 15 minutes), now laundry is sloshing and soon to start dinner.

Mollie I am so happy for you! And glad I don’t have to figure out how to get in a car while wearing a skirt. I’d probably step on the thing and end up in my altogether.

I whacked my head on the underside of one of the bridges in the museum’s park. Now I have scabs under what little hair I have left. It really itches.

Just got in from some back yard time with Ms Peach. One of my favorite things happened, which for some reason hasn’t in a couple of years. The entire back yard volume, the yard is surrounded by 40 foot tall trees, and is roughly 300 feet square, was filled with lightning bugs. It is really kind of magical looking.

  • ahem *

Bellllly!!!

ROFL!! Indeed. It’s a favorite pose of his. He luuuurrrrrrvvves him some belly rubs!!

IME, vehicles that are about the height of the Chevy S10, Ford Ranger or other compact pickup (too bad they no longer make them that size) are the easiest and most graceful to get in and out of.

Ollie is adorable! :skritches: The barn owl is cool too.

I napped. Dinner tonight is chicken and cavatappi with green beans with garlic and [Bobby Flay]Calabrian chilies[/Bobby Flay]. And a martini.

That’s a big swing in value and sanitation.

Sorry about the sticky thighs.

:smiling_cat_with_heart_eyes:

Late night final here, even if it is only 9pm as I start typing. Gym was gymed and we got a few drops of rain and a couple rumbles of thunder. Actually washed dishes in my sink, something I haven’t done in a long time, but there were too few to justify running the dishwasher and I didn’t want to leave them dirty for 8-10 days so… Big bag is packed with all (probably too much) the clothing I will need for my trip, now to make sure I have all the additional stuff gathered up for the small bag. Still adding to the list (just noted bringing a couple books along) so hopefully nothing serious will be forgotten (adds umbrella to the list). 420 miles to Indianapolis but 98% of it is on I-65, so if I can get by Nashville and Louisville without heavy traffic, shouldn’t be too hard a drive.

Coppertone, hope you stay dry.

Bright Tree, hope the pond repair can be worked out to your satisfaction. And those pictures of Ollie brought a smile to my face. Thank you.

Mollie, if it was easy, anyone could counsel you…sounds like she’s doing her job.

Cat Glove, glad the bunnies are still about, usually see one once and awhile but none recently. Glad you got a ride home (and that you live close enough to work to walk there).

JtC, enjoy the tomato-eatin’.

And just heard a few fireworks going off, guess somebody didn’t use up their stash on the 4th.

Van Go, pretty full day. And hope the head is OK, have whacked mine a few times but have been fairly careful the past few months. And haven’t seen a big lightning bug collection in many a year…of course, I don’t get out much in the dark anymore, either…

And that’s all. Will head to bed once the packing is finished, I want to get an early start tomorrow since Indianapolis and Ohio are Eastern Time Zone, so I’ll lose an hour there. Take care all and I’ll write again when I can.

Alas, I loves me some low, fast cars.

I mowed the back lawn and did some work at the edges, offered to and then weeded the new neighbor’s alley strip, repotted a monarda to try to draw more bees, that kind of thing. The cat sat on my arm for two hours, so I really wasn’t allowed by Cat Law to do much else. Made tortilla bean tacos for dinner. Now going for a walk with my bride and queen.

In animal news, we took a walk in a provincial park yesterday and saw a lovely pileated woodpecker, several cedar waxwings, and a cute little coyote. We have bunnies in the neighbtorhood, though not in our section of it, and little bunnies out and about.

I spoke too soon. On our walk, we saw three little bunnies chasing each other in circles at the end of our block.

We just watched The Sheep Detective. Good movie.

Mrs. L.A. had the rest of her 4th of July steak for dinner. I had a cube steak sandwich with provolone, mayonnaise, and pizza sauce on Sara Lee Delightful Multi-Grain bread.

May I go "pbbbttt’ into that tummy, or would I lose my face?

I may have shared this before, but Monkey - who has many extra toes, all fully clawed - absolutely will let me blow raspberries into his tum. First time I went for it, my brain went “Nnnnooooooio!” just as my mouth went “BBBBBBRRRRRBBBB!” and he just looked up at me like a silly newborn. I did not go to the ER that day, but I did have some thoughts about what stoopit shit I’ve survived all these years.

Excellent advice from both of you (JtC too).

Here’s a quick demo, a picture is worth a thousand words:

And Ollie is cute beyond a thousand words!

There are two very different sticky thigh problems if you’re a girl. One of them you don’t have to worry about presumably >snerk, snerk<

For your problem today a little baby powder does wonders, especially if it has some corn starch in it. Another girl hack is to, after you close the door, move your legs apart and kind of hitch up your skirt so there is more fresh, circulating air down there. Smooth it back down before you open the door.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s currently 74 degrees Ferret Height(23.333 Centipedes).

Spot likes the occasional belly rub, but I’ve never felt compelled to blow raspberries on it.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 22c/72f with a predicted high of 32c/90f and sunny. Weather app says “Today, the sun is going to fucking enter your mouth and come exploding out your ass. Good fucking luck.”

Mollie mine has room for my phone, house and car keys, specs, cash, tissues and hand cream. As far as getting into a car is concerned, JtC is quite right. If you feel so inclined, watch some videos of the royals getting in and out of cars - that’s how they do it. Always knees together!

We bought a portable unit for the bedroom which does a great job, but coming out into the rest of the house in the morning feels like walking into a wet blanket.

BrightTree Ollie is adorable  But you already knew that…

Yesterday was a hot and uncomfortable day, today promises not to be any better. It was hot in the house when I got up (before 6am) so I opened the upstairs windows to get some cooler air in, then had to shut them all when I left just before 7am. 'im indoors should be up by about 10am so he can open them all again.

The bus was on time but the train operators are mostly running one service each per hour so trains to Big City Station were few and far between. The morning offering is usually 6.59am, 7.11am, 7.18am, 7.28am, 7.36am, 7.41am, 7.48am. Today there was a 6.59am and a 7.36am. I got to Big City Station and wandered out to get on a bus instead of waiting 15-30mins for the next campus service.

Tomorrow, apparently, there will be industrial action on most train operators meaning even more reductions in service, extra delays and cancellations, and trains running with fewer carriages than normal. I plan to work at home.

In other, much more joyous news, our dept’s graduation ceremony took place yesterday. They’re all filmed so first thing this morning, I watched Extremely Difficult Student roll her wheelchair across the stage and accept her degree scroll. The peasants are still rejoicing!

BrightTree Ollie is such a cutie. I’ll bet you love giving him belly rubs.
Also, so cool that you get to see wildlife on the regular, although the wild cats would concern me. Do you have chickens or anything else that they might like to feast on?

are you Scottish? Does this mean you’d be going commando in a skirt?

MetalMouse have a safe and very fun trip!

Woke up about 2:15am and couldn’t get back to sleep so scrolled on my phone for about an hour until I had 4% charge left then got up. Need to do a load of hot water wash and thoroughly water the garden. Thinking I’ll go to the fitness center today, it’s been awhile. The ladies semifinals at Wimbledon are today so I’ll be watching. Will likely be napping this afternoon.

We’re over the hump. Enjoy your Thorsday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 76 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 92 and partly to mostly cloudy with a chance of rain/tstorms/apocalypse around five p.m. OYKW said last night that the wants to go to the hog trough Golden Corral, so we shall go around elevenish. The rest of the day will be spent in RDOS sloth. I took a whole chikin outta da freezer in order to make chikin sallit tomorrow. A church member died early Sunday mornin’ (expected as she had been in hospice for about six weeks) and her funeral is Sattidy afternoon. I was asked to make chikin sallit sammiches for the reception afterward, so I shall.

If I wore a dress or skirt, I would be the one with the dress or skirt that is always somehow trapped in the car door as I ride down the road. I would also pretty much fall in and out of my vehicle upon enterin’/exitin’. Gracefulness is not a quality in me.

BrightTree AWWWWWW! Olllie is keeyooote! :: Skritches :: from Unca swampy! Cool shot of the barn owl.

VanGo a yard full of lightnin’ bugs, how cool!

MetalMouse have fun on your trip and safe travels!

BooFae irk from home tomorrow sounds like a wise decision. Hooray that EDS is gone! Did y’all form a conga line?

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then I suppose I shall purtify and make myself presentable to be amongst the great unwashed.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

I saw a tiny little spotted fawn on my front lawn this morning. I guess I know now why my coneflowers have been flower-less. And I saw a bun skittering across the back yard yesterday - heading to its hiding place when Otis is out there, no doubt.

I hear owls around here fairly often - at least I do when we can leave the windows open - but I’ve yet to see one. And while I’ve seen hawks nearby, the bald eagles seem to prefer Amish farms, dammit.

You and FCD. Over our years together, we’ve had 2 'Vettes, 2 Porsches, a Miata, a Midget, and a Crossfire (which was the only one I liked driving.) And now he drives a Santa Fe because getting out of a low car isn’t as easy for him as it used to be…

That’s on today’s list if the rain holds off. I don’t want to weed today, but I will try to finish the muddy patch in the back yard so we can get it seeded and (I hope) green soon.

I also need to make a Food Lion/Aldi run. I’ll probably start with that. Today’s motivation is minimal, probably because of minimal sleep. I’ve been trying to hydrate more, which means more late night and early morning visits to the throne room.

And so the day begins! Happy Thursday!!
