Your first furniture in the MMP

After my surgery I was sent home with a tube of salve that Hubs was supposed to put on my incisions (strict instructions about NOT TOUCHING it with his fingers) when changing the dressing.

The PA I saw yesterday shared that they can tell just by looking which patients have followed instructions (keep moist and covered) and which haven’t. Our reward is two weeks less in the restraint/sling.

My incisions are fully healed and I’ve proven that I can and will follow instructions so can be trusted with more freedom than someone who ripped the dressing off three days after the surgery and left the incisions to dry out and scab over. (I didn’t scab, all of the itching was from the tape.)

Thanks, I slept so well last night! The tape was the worse part! I wasn’t going to look at the pics, I agree with you, but once they were on the screen and the PA (Physician’s Assistant) was explaining things I couldn’t look away, yanno?

The temps are back to normal here, it still sounds pretty ick on your side of the world. I hope it cools down soon. Can you get a small room sized AC unit to help cool things down a little or is that just not done?

It was very…thought provoking.

Absolutely, plus you need to take a walk. Just sitting in front of a screen isn’t good for you.

OHBOYOHBOYOHBOY!!!

I looked up some reviews and that looks like a wonderful tool! Meet my new Bernina 475 QE - The Crafty Quilter

May it give you years of joy!

My upper arm is starting to ache, that means I need to stop doing what I’m doing and ice it for a while. More later!

That must be some mighty fancy TP!!!

The universe will fill it for you. It is The Way of The Purse. Pens, papers, tissues, gum, comb, dental floss, dog treats…

And that’s one of my fave cartoons!!

I managed a tad over 2 hours on the hill this morning. Feel free to scroll thru the before-and-after pics. I weeded and pruned and I think I’m about halfway done. What remains isn’t as steeply sloped as what I’ve finished, so I’ll have to be doing more bending. Dammit.

I’ve got a load of my dirty gardening garb in the washer. I’ve just finished lunch. I think I’ve earned a break before pulling out my sewing machine It’s not nearly as fancy-pants as hippie’s, but it will suffice. Face it, my sewing isn’t nearly as fancy-pants as hippie’s…

Lawn is mowed and 4 bags of clippings at the curb, three loads of laundry done and dried, and bacon and grilled cheese sammich eaten, so a pretty good day so far. Will get a little gym time in and then spend the evening getting organized for my travel. Up to 86F now.

{{Coppertone}} Get well soon.

And off to the gym I go. More later.

The system forcast was for 45k, but it didn’t seem like it. Till 0700, then the avalanche hit. I ended up helping on the 300 Sort Table for a while, then clerking on the 300 Slide. I could hear The Senior Shouting Officer on the radio from 20 feet away, and she was not amused. The cars left late of course. Last week it was 101 Ferrets with a heat index of 105, today it was 89 Ferrets, with a Heat Index of…105. Which somehow felt worse. Plenty of retapes, I got out at noon. I’m having my dry, flavorless bits(with milk and strawberries.

It’s exhausting to be a Small Egyptian God.

Is he a Dr. Pimple Popper fan? I love a good cyst.

It could be done.

tissues, lotion, book, sunglasses, spare lipstick, emotional support weasel…

{{{{Coppertone}}}}

Cat Glove, whenever you describe your food prep, I just want to dig in. Sounds so good.

The possible heat warning has been lifted, as it will only get to 32°C/86°F and the lows will be below 20°C/68°F. Which is partially due to it being dry. Very, very dry. Our previous heat dome had us at body temperature. Which is way too warm for air temperature.

We have a wall of Ikea Billy shelves in one of our rooms, which are full. Finally got hubby to start buying e-books, so the shelves should last us.

Foreign languages? 4 years of French, 2 years of Japanese and a whole lot of German, plus a smattering of Swiss German. I passed the B2 test for German, but that was before Covid. A major part of my work needs native English, so I normally only use German for everything outside work.

Only as a consumer. I liked it, but probably not everybody’s cup of tea.

Mollie, you wanting a bit more lavender reminds me of the time that I chose a lavender that I thought looked nice. It was nice. And it perfectly matched the rug in my parents’ bathroom.

Mooooom, get out of my head. Sometimes I think we must be related - maybe just in another life. My favorite math teacher in high school used TAMO quite often.

Watering the side yard after watering the back. We’ve seen a number of people using oscillating sprinklers on their grass. What a waste of water, especially those who are using them during the afternoon. I want to change our grass over to clover, but that’s something for September.

The dryer’s running and I had some carrot sticks plus cocoa krispies with milk. Don’t feel like cooking much, plus lunch is our main meal. Need to go forage and drink some water.

Da nada. Here’s hoping you never need it!

The cat just got off my lap, at last I can go make my first cup of coffee.

A brief break in the weather today. Overcast and 75F at 1300. Had a small squall pass through last night. Temps will climb again and we’ll be back in the 90s next week.

Weight day today, which wore me out. Had to have a brief lie-down with Sadie.

My Kindle may be losing its mind. I opened it today and it had lost my place in the book I’m reading. There’s no easy way that I know of to find where one has left off, so I ended up going page by page. First world problems.

For curiosity, I just looked up how I would go about putting in an air-conditioner as our windows are tilt and turn, which makes the hose part a bit challenging. The model shown in the video is only 1300.00 CHF (1600.00 USD), and there are cheaper ones, but this model is one of the more popular ones.

Here’s the video if anyone’s interested. https://youtu.be/6aoyhXx2DuQ

I think I’ll be okay. For now.

Nor mine, neither machine and certainly not my sewing. I mostly do grandchild clothes mending and lots of hemming since I’ve shrunk 2 inches in my dotage. I’m in awe of those cushions you reulpholstered though, that was some amazing work.

And a much better looking scar as well as doctors and nurses who will turn on the afterburners for you in the future.

Not sure if it counts as “furniture” but my first item was a really shitty second hand 10cm x 180cm second hand foam mattress from a second hand shop, complete with dubious stains.

I bought it to impress my girlfriend, because prior to her moving in with me, I slept in a sleeping bag on the bare, concrete floor.

Now I (post divorce) don’t own any furniture at all, with the exception of a (probably)late 18th century 18 seat Burmese mahogany banquet table.

It lives in storage, because, it is at minimum size 2m x 2m, and at max, 2m x 8m a bit too large to fit in the small room I rent.

My ceiling is dripping. Maintenance men are on it.

A day like yesterday, weatherwise: Started out at 52Ferrets, currently 75F and fixing to rise to 84F. Reminder to self: Do not complain about this. Although the gas station attendant and I commiserated about all this damn sunshine!

Thank you for this, dicey! I’m quite skeptical, but I love these friends and want to try and help them on their DASH journey. The recipe I plan to use calls for a quarter cup of honey to sweeten the mixture. With what honey costs, it’s kind of a major commitment. Maybe I’ll substitute agave syrup.

I’ve never had one that didn’t do stupid things. Mine likes to shut down spontaneously for no discernible reason. Pretty irritating!

Up early, got sheveled and puzzed, then out and about to run errands. One was to stop by a landscaping company that does ponds. This visit was far more fruitful that the one I paid last week to a farm supply store. The fellow I spoke with agreed to be my “avenue of last resort,” if the person to whom he referred me didn’t want to do the pond repair work. So at least I have a safety net and a referral to another person who may be more comfortable with the task. May none of you ever have to locate a pond repair specialist – they’re scarce as hens’ teeth!

Thanks to all who expressed concern about Ollie and his ear. He does seem much better today, so I’ll keep an eye on it and hopefully a visit to the vet is averted.

The rest of the day is for laundry and some house irk.

Hope all of you have a day that makes you smile.

Just got back from counselling and wore my old hair for probably the last time. I also wore a dress out of the house for the first time and learnt a few things.
1 - I need to relearn how to get in a car so I don’t give a show.
2 - The air feels kinda nice up there, until…
3 - Your thighs get a bit sweaty and clammy, then yuck.
4 - Whoops, there’s that car thing again, only it’s getting out.

This was a hard session. She worked on pulling some things out of me and making me think about hard things, but that’s why I see her and how we grow. That’s also why she has tissues.

Oh - and I rocked the purse.

I’ve never had serious problems with mine, other than my first one dying. But the user interface is clunky and non-intuitive, at least on the version I have, which is eight years old.

I walked to work this morning. In prior years I’ve always seen at least one bunny on my way and sometimes up to 4. This year I’ve only seen one or two the entire year. I was starting to worry that perhaps hawks had gotten the. This morning as I came upon a cedar break there were 2 bunnies. They stood stock still. I took a quick pic then backed away and went across the street so I didn’t cause them to have to run.

I’ve had 2 biopsies within the past year and a half, one on my face to the side of my eye and the other on the arm. Both times the Dr gave me small packets of vaseline and said to put it on daily in order to promote healing and reduce a scar. I did and it worked well. Now I know and understand why. Great link BBBooo.

Work was kind of a bit draining today so as I left I looked for one of the guys to give me a ride home. No one around. As I walked through the parking lot toward the hill that the driveway to the office is on, along came one of the guys asking if I wanted a ride. It was a quick YES. Once home I had some leftover pizza, then have just been being a RDOS ever since. I really need to do some laundry but tomorrow’s another day and I have no plans. Think I might go for a short nap.

Howdy Y’all! OYKW procured provisions and our lunch whilst I mowed the back yahd. I kinda hate to mow one part of the yahd and not the other, but I did it anyway. The back is what we look at the most anyway. After that I got showered and sheveled and et lunch. Nappage was then accomplished along with day drinkin’. Now I think it’s time to plop in the recliner and watch stoopid stuff.

Nuts IMO ice cream is always deserved no matter what. Hope your sil has baby soonest. I was born in July. My mom said the last few weeks of carryin’ me was the hottest she had ever been. I was a problem child from conception. :joy:

MOOOOOOM sometimes the best solution to a problem may be to throw a brick at it.

Hippie hooray for the new toy! Enjoy it.

Taters that’s a whole lot of work. Maybe hubs can be persuaded to assist, or did I just make a joke?

Mollie I am glad you are excited about the purse and the hair. Hope you find some dresses to your likin’ soonest. Seems to me the extra purse space is perfect for snacks. Maybe like one of those little cans of Pringles or those little cans of peanuts.

Coppertone sorry about the UTI. Hope it heals soonest!

If I still lived in AZ, I would have thought this would be a good excuse to go and visit this store. Their prices are very reasonable and I think they ship…but you can’t get free tasting when you order online.

I went out and picked tomatoes before the rain (quarter of an inch, lots of light and sound) and it looks like I will probably learn once again that it is possible to eat too many cherry tomatoes in one day. It seems as though I need to repeat the lesson every three or four years, so its time. The romas aren’t a whole lot better than grocery store fruit, but the cherries are fabulous!

I do miss Mrs Harry, we bonded over our gardens and stubborn old men.

Butt on seat, then kinda twist while keeping your knees together and putting both feet in the car at the same time. Practice at home.

Should they be under it?

This would make an excellent slogan for a business card.

Pretty sure a bunch of celebrities have gotten caught doing the same. Hey, you’re part of the famous crowd now!

IIRC wild buns have cyclical populations - some years there’s lots, other years very few.

Years ago, I accompanied my mother & one of her friends to a pick-your-own blueberry farm. Being a serious non-fan of the things, I dutifully filled my buckets.

My mom, however, was unsupervised, and lurves her some fruit, and thus went with the “one for me, one for the bucket, two for me, one for the bucket” routine, and absolutely stuffed her face, for free.

Yes, she has questionable ethics.

She also had one helluva tummyache that evening and spent serious quality time on the potty. (Karma Fairy. :magic_wand: )

Heh. Thanks for the memory!
