Nope, Val Kilmer stole that movie. I think He’s a fine example of the OP. The actor, even when he was younger, never did much or me. His Doc Holliday was absolutely rivetting.
And I’ll have to go along with Cumberbatch’s Sherlock. He’s quite a versatile actor, but that was the role that made many go “Woof!” (Caitlin Moran at the Times calls his eyes “opalescent.”)

Rosario Dawson, Victoria Pratt and Jennnifer Sky were ALL smokin’ hot in the late lamented Cleopatra 2525 TV series. I have no idea why that show didn’t succeed long term, they must have had to douse the set regularly to keep those three from setting it on fire.
Is that a whoosh? Rosario Dawson wasn’t in Cleopatra 2525. The woman on the left in the picture is Gina Torres.
Now if you want to see Rosario Dawson alongside two other good looking women, I recommend Josie and the Pussycats. A surprisingly good movie that featured Rachael Leigh Cook, Tara Reid (before she fell apart), and Dawson as the leads.
