That’s what my computer says to me when I have new mail. :smiley:

I thought since we had a ‘Post your desktop’ thread, it might be fun to hear what sounds everyone has on their computers, too. I imagine with this group, there have got to be some hilarious ones.

Here are a few of mine…

Mail notification: Your mail’s here. You wanna play post office? Heh heh heh.

When I turn on my computer: Oh, yeah! I just love the way you turn me on.

When I shut the computer down: Weeeeeell, I can’t do anymore damage around this popsicle stand. IIIIIIII’M OUTTA HERE!

When a buddy comes on AIM: You? Again? Don’t you have a life?

My ICQ, which I never even use anymore, has been personalized for everone on my list. When someone sends me a message, instead of hearing ‘Uh-oh’, it now says that person’s name. Like this:Meghan. I found the wav files at http://www.babynamer.com (Just type in a name and look on the left for where it says ‘Pronunciation’.)

So does anyone else have any sound files they’d like to share?

(P.S. Euty, I’m hoping that by posting these files as links, this thread won’t take up too much bandwidth or cause slow loading times (and all files have been uploaded to my own page, so I’m not stealing bandwidth from someone else’s site). If this isn’t a good idea or becomes too cumbersome for the board, feel free to close this thread as necessary. Thanks!)

Thanks Shayna, I just checked out the website to find that my name is also a girl’s name (altho’ there are no recorded instances of it) and it lists a number of teasing nicknames - some of which are going to live with me forever - and finally that my name is British slang for a third class honours degree - news to me, and I live in Britain.

I’ll get you back for this! :wink:

lol, I love to mess with my “Buddy In” sounds…on my laptop I have Mike Meyers from So…I Married an Axe Murderer (as his father) yelling: “HEED! PANTS!! NOW!!!” On the desktop computer I have PeeWee Herman from …Big Adventure yelling “Aiiiigh! I’ve seen better heads on boils!!!” (No offense to anyone on my buddylist, of course ;))

A whole collection of sources went into my current sounds:

Mail: “We just got a letter” song from Blue’s Clues.
Shut Down: “Yeeuuhh… I can pull a better cartoon out of my aaaa-- hehe-- Hey! Whoah! Wasn’t that great kids?” (Krusty the Klown).
Start Up: “This is a holy place, even I don’t come here. Go away!” (Julie’s deepest manifestion of her innermost consciousness, from The Maxx)
Exclamation: “Sobeka!” (Civilization II’s foreign advisor)
Critial Stop: “Core meltdown in 10 seconds” (Simpson’s nuclear power plant)
Empty Trash: “Maaarrrss… Fiiiiirrrree… IGNITE!” (Sailor Mars)

Here’s hoping that the UBB works and yep, I’m a geek.

And I forgot about my recycle bin. I actually don’t have one anymore – I have a toilet. When there’s something in it, the lid is up. When I empty it, it flushes and the lid goes down. Well, I just got this laptop here, so I may steal some of these fine files…heh heh heh.
My friend down the hall has some interesting sounds on her computer, which she changes every so often. Right now, she has:
start up: “Hello Smithers, you’re quite good at turning me on.”-from the Simpsons
when going online-“What’s your name, scumbag?!”-from Full Metal Jacket (I think)
when she gets mail-"<sound of arrow hitting person>Message for you, sir!"-from Monty Python and the Holy Grail
I dunno where she got those files, but I should find out ASAP…

I have disabled most of the sounds on my computer, because I find them annoying. But my email-checker is set up to this:
“Roof pig! Most unexpected!” from the Tick.

Hey T.N. (I refuse to greet you as Nerd), I love the Tick! Great cartooon if only I could figure out exactly when it comes on television.

As far as the OP, I have AOL (no comments please!) and I just have the default sounds. At work I have lots of sounds especially for my mail. My high priority mail is my favorite because it’s from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. “I see you shiver with antici----pation!” I don’t have the sounds uploaded onto a website but maybe I’ll do it later.

Now for a funny wav, I recommmend listening to [a href=“http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Lot/8835/buttons_lines_etc/farm-bday-to-choc.wav”]Click here[/a]. It’s a birthday wav we made for Shayna’s sister Chocolate. If you listen long enough, you can actually hear my voice singing her name in this most unusual birthday song.

Work is fine for killin’ time, but it’s a shaky way to make a living.
