The other 10 clubs resigned from the League, not the OF. If anyone is disrespecting the league, its them.

Thats the fault of the Hooligans, not of the clubs.
1. Grossly unfair on two English clubs who would have to make way.
Not necessarily, the division could be expanded by two teams.
If clubs where to be removed, would you object to Cardiff being one of the English clubs?

They wouldnt have any more sunday or monday games than any other big club.

If there is still a Scottish League, and a Scottish FA, there is no danger of losing your 4th vote.

Scared of the Competition? More quality sides in the league makes for a better league.

 1. The other clubs resigned because of the OF acting the arse over the SPLTV channel. It is their stated aim to get into England.

 2. Granted, but it is still a fact and a factor.

 3. They would have to join the 1st division. This is already too big. Some one would have to go down to make room. Doesn’t strike me as fair on them.

 4. Yes they would. These games are going to be big box-office, certainly at first.

 5. FIFA have been gunning for our votes for years. This would be further ammunition. It is hard to defend at present, it would be impossible in the future. Also in the longer term they don’t like us having 4 international teams. This is not an immediate threat but should be bourne in mind.

 6. Scared of the competition? Frankly yes.

1)The entire Scottish situation is reeking of “It’s my ball, and I’m going home” syndrome. They were just ready to accept the first deal that came along, even thugh it may not have been right to accept. The clubs harp on about “Exercising their Democratic right” by resigning, but when the OF do the same re: SPLTV they are lambasted. The double standard is a disgrace.

 1. Simple solution. Relegate 4 teams instead of 3 for two seasons. Promote 3 teams as normal. There was no complaints when the EPL did it several years ago to reduce the number of clubs in their league. The rules would have to change, but I doubt you will see any clubs complaining about it.

 2. Fans would still only have to make the trip once a year, minimum. What about teams like Middlesborough or Newcastle that have to make long trips to London 5 or 6 times a season, and several of them on Sundays or Mondays? Why is it suddenly an issue now?

 3. FIFA cannot remove the vote of a member association. As long as there are separate Football association there will be 4 votes. They would not be able to amalgamate the 4 federations without the willingness of the 4 federations. Can you honestly see Norn Iorn, Wales and Scotland going for that?

 1. my understanding is that this is a way of enforcing one club one vote. At present the OF can veto anything they’re agin. Yes they should sort it out and stay in Scotland. Scotish teams should play in Scotland (Cardiff, Berwick etc are historical quirks not precedents).

 2. It COULD be done. I just don’t think it SHOULD be doe . And which ever way you cut it; two Scottish teams in the EPL/Div 1 is two english teams that aren’t

 3. I don’t like the present situation as I have made clear. I don’t want it made worse.

 4. Its not our member votes per se that are at threat but our position on the rulemaking body, as we invented it. Maybe it is time to move on, but not under duress.

 1. the rest of the league understand that they won’t be able to get a successful TV deal without the OF. I’m going to enjoy watching them try to get a new deal without the OF.

And when Hibs and Livvy are dominating in 5 years, will they kick them out too?

Its also 2 english teams that weren’t strong enough to remain in the division. But this point could go back and forth ad infinitum.

 1. would you rather that the EPL be divided into two separate leagues, north and south?

 2. It might be hard for you to accept, but it is not your game anymore.

 1. No. But I am open to the idea lower down.

 2. No problem with this. It is a world game. However realpolitik would dictate that we should hang on to any advantage we may have, and not surrender it lightly , which letting the OF in would do. To be honest I think the continuing non-achievement of Wales and N Ireland will do this anyway.

Jeez… £750 owlstretchingtime? Is that the West Stand then? I notice they haven’t told us the prices for next season yet, I have a nasty feeling about that!

Incidentally, as another Spurs fan I have to disagree with you about things being worse these days. I look forward to being able to take my future kids to games without the fear of getting caught up in the middle of a fight about nothing. Also, not being able to afford to go to many away matches, I think it’s great that more games are televised in the evenings nowadays.

Yup west stand upper (quite posh on the quiet, me). God knows what it will cost next year. Still Hopefully Glenn will give us something worthwhile (I hear very good thin gs from conatcts at the club) to watch.

There’s still loads of fighting but it tends to be in Antwerp park or Highbury hill or, bizzarely, Wood Green.

The stadium is as safe as houses.

Television is a double edged sword. It is great to see THFC v Newcastle on a monday night. I just don’t think they should be playing on a Monday. Football happens on Saturdays. Wednesdays are for European matches (Which I am old enough to remember) and cup replays. Anything else is Satan’s work.

Yeah, I see your point on the TV. In an ideal world, all league matches would be on Saturdays if for no other reason than it’s quicker for me to bloody walk home than wait for a train after Sunday matches, but having said that, I doubt anything will change it now because the TV companies want as many people to watch as possible, and that means not putting games on TV when neutral football fans might already be at a match. For example, although I passionately support Spurs, I would probably still watch another EPL game if it was on TV and I wouldn’t be able to do that if it was being played at the same time I was at Spurs.

I definitely think big things are gonna happen under Glen in the next few years. The nicest thing is actually playing good football again! We need a decent holding midfielder though.

Heh, there are enough fights in Wood Green at the best of times. Seriously though, I won’t comment on the fighting. I don’t agree with it and don’t think it is much to do with being a fan, but on the other hand, if it’s well out of the way and doesn’t affect any innocents, then consenting adults have the right to do what they want as far as I’m concerned. It did used to be so much worse though. I remember my dad taking me as a 5 year old in the early 80s and then having to whisk me away pretty quick when trouble started down the high road. That’s just not a good situation for anyone.

As for the OF joining the English league, I say fine so long as they join in the Conference and work their way up fairly.

Conference? Wooly Liberal! Ryman league Div III like aldershot.

We have a very significant transfer kitty. Kevin Phillips is all but a done deal, and we have first refusal on Zamora. Redknapp is a start (if he ever actually plays) and I fancy his wife.

On the downside Carr is getting ready to do a scumbell on us, to the same gang of pikies too.

Hopfully we’ll be getting the all white (with a bit of red - bah!) kit out again soon.

Damn, you think Carr might go to the scum? How long has he got on his contract? Surely the board wouldn’t dare sell him to them if they had a choice?

I’m not sure about Philips, he has never impressed me much when I’ve watched him. To be fair I haven’t paid him too much attention though. Zamora looks worth a risk. I just wish we could pull off a huge and shocking coup for a top class player again. Another on the Klinsmann scale would be nice. Edgar Davids?

I fancy Redknapp’s wife too.

Carr: Tapped-up hyper-illegally by that cunt sky andrews. I would very much like ten minutes alone with him. Was originally going with Judas. We should take the cash and getl rid.

Incidentally Tom Bower has written a book about malfeisance in the English game. Wenger’s lawyers are desperate to get hold of a copy, as he is a very naughty boy.

Phillips: Rebrov mark II. Don’t see him as an improvement.

Zamora: They want silly money (£5-6m) for an untried player. May well come to nothing.

Effenburg was approached. How old is he?

I seriously think that if the OF came into the EPL their current squads would not cut it for a full season, sure they can play well for the one or two games so they might be ok in cup competitions.

They don’t really get the competition they need in their own league and this is reflected in their recent poor showings in Europe.I would doubt that any other Scottish team would even make a good showing in the Nationwide Div 1.

I have no doubt that they have the backers to be able to build up a very good squad, both teams are likely among the richest in Europe and they could easily get good sponsorship deals.

It would be terribly embarrassing if they joined the EPL and had a very ordinary season,

I think both our clubs actually had decent showings in Europe this past year, casdave. And I think we have a big enough name that we’d be able to attract top players if we were playing in a decent league, so I expect we’d do pretty well in the EPL within a few seasons. But I’m still not very enthusiastic about the idea.

They’d have trouble at first settling in, bu t with their fan base and EPL money and status they’d soon attract top class playersand would be a focrce to be reckoned with.

This is why, at a purely selfish level I am against it. They would be at about the level of Spurs, and this is already competitive enough.

My main objection however is idealogical.

How much do you want for Larsson?

Positive thinking owlstretchingtime, we’ll be up there with Barcelona in no time under Glenn!

I think Effenberg is about 33. Last year I was praying we’d go for him but I don’t think we need another thirty-something now.

To twist the “OF joining the English league” debate, do you guys think there will ever be a Great Britain team? Do you think it would be a good thing? I’m of the opinion that it would be quite an exciting thing for the Olympics, but we should keep the current structure for the world cup etc.

Have you seen our new prices £55 to watch a football match. My ticket now £875!!!

For that kind of money I want Zidane.

As regards a GB team it’s a nice idea for the olympics (which is a u23 competition) but otherwise no. Also there aren’t many non English who would get in theteam. Giggs, Lennon that’s about it. And Lennon’s only a squad player.

Wouldn’t mind Roy Keane in a British Lions type team though.

Bloody hell, for a minute there I thought I’d gone to Chelsea’s page by mistake. I think they’re taking the piss a bit now, it’s not like we’re challenging for the title or even in europe at the moment. My ticket has gone up from £530 to £595. They could have at least given us our 10% shop discount back. I buy any shirts from JJB sports now, it’s cheaper.

I’m not too keen on the new kit either.

Keane may have issues with being in a British Lions team as he’s … well not British.
