“One Headlight”: For the longest time I thought it was
The incinerator
Will pull it all together
I still hear that when I hear the song.
“Silver Bells”: When I was a kid, for my school holiday program, the teachers got together onstage and sang this song. Their diction was not very clear. For the opening lines, I thought I heard
City cyborgs,
Busy cyborgs,
Dressed in holiday style …
I used to hear that song a lot on the radio when I was a teenager, and I didn’t know the real title of it for a long time. I thought it was “Poisoned Summer”. Which made the lyric “my love for you will still be strong / after the poisoned summer has gone.”
Has this one been mentioned yet? Rolling Stones’ “Far Away Eyes”, the line about listening to gospel music on the <something> radio station. I still can’t tell if he is saying “college” or “colored”. They both kind of make sense.
They left the planet long ago
The elder race still learn and grow Their power grows with purpose strong
To claim the home where they belong
Home to tear the Temples down…
Home to change!
Where it says “Their power grows…” I thought it was “A flower grows…” which is quite a difference from intergalactic travellers.
