I’m sure many of you have posted videos on YouTube. What ones have been the most successful either in terms of number of views or number of comments, or by some other method of gauging success (explain in post)?
For me it’s the video I posted a year and a half ago of my 5 week old kitten, which at this point has over 21,500 views: Ferocious Puffball vs Terrifying Hand of Doom* It’s also gotten pretty much universally positive comments, which I consider makes it pretty successful. ETA: I just noticed that it also says “Featured Video” next to it–what does that mean?
So let’s see 'em! What kind of “success” have you had with YouTube videos and let’s see your most successful!
*I posted this video in another thread yesterday and that’s what got me thinking about other Dopers’ YouTube videos
It’s a tribute video to my neighborhood and a spoof of the Beatles’ Penny Lane video. It has about 5,000 views. Considering how there are little people who care about both Penny Lane and Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, I think the video did pretty well.
The director of that video also made a shot for shot cover of Lazy Sunday. After SNL removed the original Lazy Sunday video from Youtube his video became the first result whenever anyone searched for “Lazy Sunday.” It has over 4.3 million views now.
These are the only two things I’ve uploaded to YouTube so far - I did them in February for ‘Teemings’, and I’ve now got my own YouTube channel where I hope to do more work as the year progresses.
The audio was recorded live with me singing and playing my own arrangements on the guitar. The video, too, was shot, edited and synchronized by me. Links to the relevant pages in Teemings, 2nd issue.
OpalCat, I helped my brother write the lyrics to the song and choose the locations. My brother then took it to his director friend and they filmed the video. They are the two guys walking around in the video.
