Your ONE favorite song from the decade you were born

What’s your favorite song that was released the decade you were born?

You may only pick one song. If you were born in a decade with a lot of good music I guess this will be a tough decision. But I was born in the 70s, so easy

Seriously, though, it should be interesting to see what people born the same decade pick, because I have a feeling there won’t be a huge amount of overlap.

Released in 1971: Bill Withers “Ain’t No Sunshine”

Your pick?

1958: Chuck Berry’s “Johnny B. Goode”

1968: Hey Jude

One? Damn it.

Radar Love, Golden Earring.

But damn wouldn’t I love to pull a couple of Jim Croce songs.

Damn! I was born in the sixties, so this is a tough one. I think I’ll have to go with Patsy Cline’s cover of Crazy.

Satisfaction.

Dang, that’s a tough one… Today, I’d say “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay” by Otis Redding. Ask again tomorrow, and my answer would probably the different.

Beyond the Sea by Bobby Darin. Yes I’m ancient.:cool:

Can I just get “Stairway to Heaven” out of the way? I hate to admit it, but that was the first one that came to mind. (70s).

Holy crap! The best song of the 1950s?!? That’s gonna require a lot of thought…! :dubious:

Word! We’re screwed. As tempted as I am to pick Your Cheatin’ Heart, I’m going to go with Johnny B goode.

Released in 1965: Mamas & the Papas, California Dreamin’

After much consideration, I have to say my favorite song of the '50s is this one, even though I’m not a C&W fan and didn’t even know until a few minutes ago that it was released in December 1955 (though this performance was recorded a bit later):

A great song and one of the greatest artists of all time, IMHO!

1970s. Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd.

Take Five (1959) as performed by the Dave Brubeck Quartet

Liked it when I first heard it and, unlike me, it never gets old.

70s. Darkness On The Edge Of Town, Springsteen.

Oh come on! I was born in 1961, and I’m supposed to pick ONE song???

If my iPod is to be trusted, the Sixties song I play most often is… “For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her” by Simon and Garfunkel.

Okay, if I MUST pick one, that’s a good one.

'70s, mmm, I’d have to say Bella Lugosi’s Dead by Bauhaus

Son of a Preacher Man by Dusty Springfield

1959: The Masochism Tango by Tom Lehrer
