Your one iTunes song

So let’s assume that some of you have been hanging out in Hal Briston’s giveaway thread, or you’ve gone out and bought some soft drinks and happen to have picked up a couple of codes to get some free music.

Name the one song you’d pick up with your freebie.

Me, I was hoping to get Hawksley Workman’s Jealous of your cigarette, but that’s apparently only available on the Canadian iTunes site, so I’m s.o.l.

Now I’m thinking there’s a band (duo?) a former co-worker of mine used to play a lot-- back in '97, woman with a haunting voice singing depressive songs-- but damned if I can remember who they are.

A little earlier than '97, but maybe Mazzy Star?
Anyway, I did get 1 credit from a Pepsi bottle, and I bought Depeche Mode’s “I Feel You”. (ITunes is great for getting great singles from artists that I never had quite enough interest for their albums – Beastie Boys being another example).

This is pretty vague. I’ll take a WAG and say Portishead. If not, it would help if you could describe the style of music.

I’d get the Safety Dance.

S S S S A A A A F F F F E E E E T T T T Y Y Y

You can dance if you want to…
God, I haven’t thought of that song in years. Was that Men at Work or Men Without Hats?

Anyway, my song would be some random Doc Watson tune I’ve never heard or somesuch - I’m so damn predictable in my tastes these days…

That’d be Men Without Hats.

I’d probably go with the new Beck single. E-Pro.

Proud to say it’s my cellphone ringtone.

(On Topic) The last go-round, I bought some Ryan Adams and Counting Crows from various compilation albums that I’d never buy the whole thing. Haven’t been buying many bottles of soda lately, so no codes this time yet.

Pink Floyd’s Dogs of War.

Yes! I even went so far as to google my ex-co-worker’s name, find out where she is now, and send her an email asking what the name of the band was, but you blew her response time away.

Off to listen to Portishead samples.

Only in the extended version, which I would very specifically not download.

Ever since that Valentine’s comercial for mumblesomethingmumble (Great commercial, eh? Really made me want to exchange money for their goods and services!) I’ve wanted “99 Red Balloons.” iTunes has it. I wants it.

Now if my friendly local merchants would just get some Diet Pepsi Twist or Diet Cherry Pepsi with freakin’ iTunes lids! The only ones with yellow caps are plain diet, which I do not like!
