While using the Google news site, I have been introduced to the Xinhua news service and I have to admit I’m fairly impressed by what I’ve read so far. Pretty darn comprehensive.
Yet, being a Chinese news service I’m automatically tempted to distrust it due to fears of a ‘slant’ being placed on the reporting.
Can anyone dispell my fears? Any opinions on their capability and effectiveness on reporting the news? Alternatively any opinions or examples of obvious misreporting?

I waited a minute or so, and the page still hadn’t loaded. I lost interest. By that measure, it sucks.
meh, never mind. Found a couple discrepancies by comparing Canadian news stories. Seems that as long as its not specifically related to China the coverage is good, but not so much if it does.
It’s wire service stuff. I suspicious that this is just an agreement to rebrand reuters and other wire service news flashes under the Xinhua “brand” combined with China coverage (that goes out under Reuters “brand”).
If you’re looking for wire service, either go directly with reuters or go with a collection such as bloomberg, msn, yahoo, etc.
